Weather for Today: Sunny and cloudy

Period A: Khina did the dining room and breakfast dishes. Frances and Khina helped to make some Christmas Cookies. We had to leave the class early at 10:45 so we could go on our Field trip.

We went on a Field Trip to the Scarborough Town Centre with Ms. Sharma’s class. We had a great time. We got back to school around 2:30.

Daily Report for Monday December 9th 2019

Weather for Today: Rainy and Coldish…

Period A: Frances and Aaliyah peeled some taters as well as writing the menu on the whiteboard. Frances and Aaisha set up a breading station and made some Potato Croquettes. Khina set up the Staff Dining Room. Daidrean grated a variety of cheeses. 

Period B: We had our Morning Mindfulness Minutes. We went to the CPC-ML to continue work on our Cinnamon Bun Project. While we were in the kitchen we wrote in our Weekend Journals during down time.

Period C: We continued to work on our Cinnamon Bun Project.

Period D: We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.  

Daily Report for Thursday December 4th 2019

Weather for Today: Partly Cloudy and Cold…

Period A: Frances went to her Co-op placement at Canadian Tire at 9:30. She was kept busy re-stocking returned merchandise.  She worked all morning and returned to school at lunch time. The rest of us went to Food School. Khina set up the Staff Dining Room. Frances wrote the menu on the whiteboard. Aaisha, Khina and Daidrean repurposed some French fries by cutting them up into smaller pieces to be used in soup.

Period B: We had our Morning Mindfulness Minutes. We then went to the CPC-ML  where we continued work on our Cinnamon Bun Project.

Period C: We went to the CPC-ML  where we, once again, continued work on our Cinnamon Bun Project.

Period D: We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.  

Note to Parents: No School tomorrow due to PD Day.

Daily Report for Tuesday December 3^rd  2019

Weather for Today: Partly Cloudy and Cold…

Period A: Frances went to her Co-op placement at Giant Tiger where she was kept busy hanging Christmas clothing on hangers. The rest of us went to Food School. Khina set up the Staff Dining Room. Aaisha and Khina wrote the menu on the whiteboard. Khina filled some salt and pepper’s. Aaisha and Khina portioned out some Chocolate Chip Cookies. Deandre washed the Breakfast Club dishes and filled the water jugs. Daidrean labeled the salt and pepper containers.

Period B: We had our Morning Mindfulness Minutes. We went to the CPC-ML to continue work on our Cinnamon Bun project.

Period C: WE went to the local No Frills to buy some groceries for our Cinnamon Bun project. When we got back to school we went to the CPC-ML to put away the groceries.

Period D: We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.  

Note to Parents: Due to OSSTF Strike, there will be no school tomorrow.

Weather for Today: Overcast and Cold…

Period A: Frances wrote the menu on the whiteboard. Khina and Frances washed some blueberries and raspberries and then used them to make Yoghurt Cups. Khina set up the Staff Dining Room. Deandre, though he was late because of his bus being delayed, washed the Breakfast Club dishes and peeled and grated some carrots.

Period B: We had our Morning Mindfulness Minutes. We then went to the CPC-ML to continue working on our Cinnamon Bun Fund Raising project.

Period C: Once again we were in the CPC-ML making Cinnamon Bun’s.

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Weather for Today: A Few Clouds and Cold….

Period A: Daidrean went to a Special Olympics Basketball Tournament. The rest of us went to Food School. Deandre washed the Breakfast Club dishes and set up the Staff Dining Room. He also seasoned some popcorn. Aaisha and Khina wrote the menu on the whiteboard. They then assembled some BLT Sandwich’s.

Period B: We had our Morning Mindfulness Minutes. We then went to the CPC-ML to do our weekly cooking activity. Today we made individual Mini Apple Pies.

Period C: We met in the CPC-ML to test out some Cinnamon Bun Recipe’s. We hope to be able to make some Cinnamon Buns to sell to raise some money for the Holiday Par-Tay.

Period D: We went to the computer lab where we worked on our Holiday Research Projects. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.  

Note to Parents: Field Trip to St. Lawrence Market. Students will need a bag lunch or $ for lunch.

Weather for Today: Rainy and Cool…

Period A: Deandre did the breakfast club dishes and set up the Staff Dining Room. Aaisha and Khina wrote the menu on the whiteboard. Daidrean helped to clean up. We all had a chance to put some icing on some Snowman Cookies.

Period B: We had our Morning Mindfulness Minutes. We did our Current Events activity. We chose an article from the Metro newspaper and used it to fill in our worksheets. When we had done we presented or work to the class. We then did some IXL Math on the class laptops.

Period C: Aaisha went to her Co-op placement at Shoppers Drug Mart. She did a great job putting different merchandise on shelves. The rest of us went to the Computer Lab where we worked on individual educational programs.

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Period A: Deandre set up the Staff Dining Room and washed the Breakfast Club dishes. Khina and Aaisha wrote the menu on the whiteboard. Daidrean was late for class so was not able to participate.

Period B: We had our Morning Mindfulness Minutes. We did our weekly Weekend Journal activity. We wrote in our journals some of what we had done over the weekend. When we had finished we presented our work to the class.

Period C: We used the class laptops to work on Numeracy on IXL.

Period D: We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting. We did a coloring activity for Movember.

Weather for Today: Partly Cloudy and Cool to Cold….

Today we went on a Field Trip to Allen Gardens with Ms. Sharma’s class. We took the 986 Express Bus to Kennedy Station. We then took the Line 2 Westbound subway to Sherbourne Station where we transferred to the 75 Sherbourne bus Southbound. We got off at Carlton St. and walked to Allen Gardens. After we had toured the Gardens we walked to College Park  where we ate lunch in the Food Court. We then walked south on Yonge St. to the Eaton Centre where we checked out the Christmas decorations. We then got on the Line 1 subway north to Yonge and Bloor where we transferred to the Line 2 subway eastbound. We got off at Kennedy Station and took the 905 Express buys back to school.

It was a fun trip!

Period A: Frances went to her Co-op placement at Canadian Tire. The rest of the class went to Food School. Daidrean prepped some potatoes. Aaisha wrote the menu on the whiteboard. Khina and Aaisha grated some cheese for tomorrow’s pizza. Aaliyah, all by herself, washed the dishes from Breakfast Club and set up the Staff Dining Room.

Period B: We had our Morning Mindfulness Minutes. We went to the CPC-ML for our weekly cooking activity. Today we made some Empire Cookies.

Period A: Deandre set up the Staff Dining Room. Aaliyah and Deandre made some confectionary treats called “Moose Farts”. Khina made some cookies. Frances and Khina wrapped some Chocolate Chip Cookies in plastic wrap. Aisha wrote the menu on the whiteboard as well as bagging some popcorn for sale at lunch.

Period B: We had our Morning Mindfulness Minutes. We then used the classroom laptops to do IXL math activities.

Period C: We went to the local No Frills to buy the ingredients we will need for tomorrow’s cooking activity. We are going to making Empire Cookies.

Period A: Frances and Aaliyah went to their Co-op placement at Giant Tiger where they hung up clothes. The rest of us went to Food School. Deandre set up the Staff Dining Room. Khina washed the dishes from Breakfast Club. Khina also helped to make some cookies. Daidrean wrote the menu on the whiteboard.

Period B: We had our Morning Mindfulness Minutes. We then did our weekly Current Events activity. We choose an article from the Metro newspaper and used it to fill our Current Events Worksheet. When we had finished we presented our work to the class.

Period C: We used the IWB and plastic money to do a Money Math activity. WE also did a number of Money Math worksheets.

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Period A: Frances, Khina and Aaliyah wrote the menu on the whiteboard. Frances and Aaisha peeled some carrots. Khina and Aaliyah made some Peanut Sauce. Deandre set up the Staff Dining Room. Deandre and Daidrean made some sweets. They also cut up some onions.

Period B: We had our Morning Mindfulness Minutes.  We then did our Weekend Journal Activity. We wrote in our journal’s some of what we had done over the weekend. When we had all finished we presented our work to the class.

Period C: we went to the Computer Lab in Room 204 to begin work on our Winter Holiday Research projects.

Period D: As it was too cold and wet to go for a Community Walk, we walked around the inside of the school. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Body Scan Mindfulness Meditation.

Period A: Frances went to her new Co-op placement at Canadian Tire. She was kept busy facing some Christmas merchandise. Deandre set up the Staff Dining Room, washed the Breakfast Club dishes and made some Grilled Cheese Sandwich’s. Khina and Aaisha wrote the menu on the whiteboard and then prepped some ingredients for Fruit Cake. Daidrean made some French Fries using the Deep Fat Fryer.

Period B: We went to the CPC-ML to prepare the Birthday Feast. Deandre prepped the Green Onions. Daidrean cut up some onions and cooked the Pancit in a Wok. Aaisha prepped the cabbage and celery and also cooked the Rice and Peas. Khina and Aaliyah prepped the carrots. Deandre and Khina set the table.

Period C: Khina and Aaliyah went to the latest Co-op placement at Value Village where they hung up some clothes. The rest of us met in the CPC-ML where we all helped to clean up. We then celebrated Daidrean and Frances’s Birthday with Cake and Ice Cream.

Period D:. We filled in the Daily Report. We did a  Body Scan Mindfulness exercise.

Period A: Frances and Daidrean, who was quite late!, prepped some home made pasta. Khina and Frances wrote the menu on the whiteboard and then grated some cheese for the lasagne. Aaliyah and Deandre set up the Staff Dining Room. Aaisha, Aaliyah and Deandre prepped some vegetables.

Period B: We had our Morning Mindfulness Minutes. We created a menu and shopping list for tomorrow’s Double Birthday Feast. We were given a review of how to do research on the internet for when we start on our Winter Holiday Project.

Period C: We went to the local No Frills to buy the groceries for the feast tomorrow. When we got back to school we went to the CPC-ML to put away the groceries.

Period D: We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.  

Note to Parents: Tomorrow we will be having a special lunch. Students do not need to bring a lunch.

Period A: Aaliyah and The Boyz, (Daidrean and Deandre), made egg pasta dough by hand. Khina and Frances wrote the menu on the whiteboard. Khina set up the Staff Dining Room. Frances and Khina made some Caramel Cookies.

Period B: We had our Morning Mindfulness Minutes. We used the laptop computers to work on our numeracy skills with the IXL program.

Period C: We went to S-7 where we cleaned up from the Maplewood Mindfulness Community lunch. We began work on a research project on different Holidays from around the world.

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Period C: We did a literacy activity. We first had a short spelling quiz. We then used the IWB to do a spelling activity.

Period A: Daidrean, Aaliyah and Deandre prepped the mix for Brownies. Frances and Khina wrote the menu on the whiteboard. Frances also made some Caramel Popcorn.

Period B: We had our Morning Mindfulness Minutes. We went to the CPC-ML where we made some Bran Muffins. Mr. Wilkens divided us into two teams to make the muffins. One team consisted of Daidrean, Aaliyah and Aaisha with the other team being Frances, Khina and Deandre. The muffins turned out well and we all got to take some home.

Period C: We watched the video describing how to create sleeping mats using re-cycled milk bags. For more information on this project go

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.  

Note to Parents: Tomorrow is our Field Trip to St. Lawrence Market. We will be doing some walking outside so please be sure students are dressed appropriately.

Period C: We had our weekly Drama activity. Today we acted out two skits. We then had two games of Musical Chairs.

Period A: Khina and Frances wrote the menu on the whiteboard. They then cut up some onions and ‘shrooms for today’s pizza. Aaliyah set up the Staff Dining Room she then portioned out some cheese for the pizza.

Period B: We used the IWB to do a Yoga session. We then did a Body Scan Mindfulness exercise.

Period C: We watched a video on YouTube to learn how to make Milk Bag Mats using the loom that came with our new classroom. We then went to the Computer Lab in Room 204 to work on individual educational programs.

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We used the IWB to work on a puzzle activity.

Note to Parents: The students will be bringing home a Field Trip Permission form for a trip to St. Lawrence Market next Friday. Please sign and return ASAP.

Period A: Aaliyah cleaned and set up the Staff Dining Room. She also helped to make some fruit cups. Frances and Khina wrote the menu on the whiteboard. Frances decorated some Halloween Cookies. Khina helped with the fruit cups. Daidrean helped to make some Pumpkin Pies.

Period B: We had our Morning Mindfulness Minutes. We then went to the cafeteria for a special event. The Leadership class put on a Halloween Carnival. There were lots of different games for us to play. We were able to win prizes of Halloween Candy!

Period C: We used the classroom Chromebooks to do some numeracy activities on IXL.

Period D: We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Period A: Ms. Smith was away today so we could not work in the kitchen. We went to our classroom in Room S-9A where we watched an educational video on Netflix.

Period B: We used the IWB to do some sitting Yoga Asana’s. We then did a Body Scan Mindfulness exercise.

Period C: Working together on the IWB we created two programs using Boardmaker Studio. We made an Animal Matching Game and a Sequencing game about getting ready for home time in winter.

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We used the IWB to do some puzzle activities.

Period A: Daidrean and Aaisha set up the Staff Dining Room, they also helped to put filling into Turkey Pot Pies. Frances and Aaliyah also helped to make the pies. Khina and Frances wrote out the menu on the whiteboard.  

Period B: We had our Morning Mindfulness Minutes. We then looked up a recipe for Blueberry Muffins, which we will be making in our food program activity tomorrow. From the recipe we created a shopping list which we will use this afternoon on our trip to No Frills. After that we did our weekly Current Event activity. We choose an article from the Metro Newspaper and used it to complete a worksheet. When we had all finished our worksheets we presented our work to the class.

Period C: We went on our weekly shopping trip to No Frills to buy the items on the shopping list we had created this morning. When we got back to school we went to the Community Kitchen to put away the groceries.

Period D: We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting. We used the IWB to do a puzzle activity.

Weather for Today: Cloudy with Rain and Warmish…

Period A: Frances went to her Co-Op placement at Giant Tiger. She put some sweaters, t-shirts and pants on hangers. The rest of us went to Food School. Khina and Aaisha wrote the menu on the whiteboard. Aisha and Daidrean cut up Green Onions for soup. Daidrean also cut up some carrots and celery. Aaliyah and Deondre cut up beef for the soup. Deondre also set up the Staff Dining Room, all by himself !  

Period B: We had our Morning Mindfulness Minutes. We then went to the Art Room where we painted our mugs with underglaze.

Period C: We did our weekly Drama activity. Today we worked on a short skit called “A Walk in the Woods”. Here is a video of Frances and Daidrean performing the skit…

To finish off our Drama we played two games of Musical Chairs.
