Weather for Today: Overcast and Cold…

Today was a short day. We got to watch a movie, A Christmas Carol, and have some treats. We ate some gingerbread cookies, popcorn, potato chips and pop. We also had some Vanilla Ice Cream.

We finished off our day with a final sit.

Period A & B: We went to the Partnership Room to set up for the Holiday Feast. We set the tables for the meal. We then did a short sitting. We also practiced the carol we will be doing in today’s assembly.

Our lunch was a little delayed for various reasons but when the meal was finally served it was great ! It was also fantastic to see some of our former classmates who came for the meal. Here is a picture of Mr. Wilkens and our guests.

Weather for Today: Partly Cloudy and Cold….

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. Ahmed and Mark went to their co-op placement at Eastview Public School. They washed out the bins for snack program. The rest of us went to the ME Kitchen to continue the food prep for tomorrow’s Holiday Feast.

Period B: We continued to work on the food prep. We then went back to our class where we practiced our act for the assembly. We then did a Body Scan Mindfulness exercise.

  

Period C:  We met Mr. Watson in S-18. We continued work on our Christmas ornaments and our wooden candle holders.

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had our Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Tuesday December 20th 2016

Weather for Today: Partly Cloudy and Cold….

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. Fahim and Matthew went to their co-op placement at the Boys and Girls Club. They helped to clean the computer room. The rest of us went to No Frills to buy some groceries for the Holiday Feast. When we got back we went to the ME Kitchen to continue food prep for the feast. Emily and Ahmed cut up celery and onions for the dressing.

Period B: We continued with the Food Prep. We all got a chance to decorate the Gingerbread Cookies we made yesterday.

At lunch we went to practice our Dance Club performance on the stage in the cafeteria.

  

Period C: We met Mr. Watson in S-7 where we helped to clean up and do the dishes for the Maplewood Mindfulness Community Lunch. Then we went to the ME Kitchen to finish the clean up there.

Period D: We filled in the Daily Report. We went to a Holiday Dance in the Cafeteria.

Note to Parents: Tomorrow the Food School will be offering a Holiday Turkey Lunch for the bargain price of $ 5.00.

Weather for Today: Sunny and Cold….

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We went to S-16 to wrap up our Ceramic Candle Holders. Here is a picture of our work….

We then went to the ME Kitchen where we began preparations for the  Holiday Feast. Today we made some Gingerbread Cookies, which we will be having for dessert on Thursday. Here some pictures of us making the cookies....

Period B: We finished up making the cookies. We then went back to class where we did our Weekend Journals.

  

Period C: We met Mr. Watson in S-18. We continued work on our Christmas ornaments and our wooden candle holders.

Weather for Today: Overcast and Cold….

Period A: Rebeca and Nerissa went to their co-op placement at Old Navy at the Scarborough Town Centre. They folded clothes and put them back on display. Joel and Emily went to their co-op placement at Dollarama. They stocked shelves with merchandise. The rest of us began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then did our Current Events activity. We were visited by Ms. Kim and her music class who showed us how to do a Flash Dance we will be taking part in during the Holiday Assembly.

Period B: We went to the computer lab where we worked on various educational programs.

  At lunch we went to Dance Club practice on the stage to get ready for the assembly.

Period C: We met Mr. Watson in S-18. We continued to work on our Wooden Christmas decorations. We also worked on making some wooden candle holders.

Period D: We filled in the Daily Report. We did a Mindfulness Body Scan exercise.

Note to Parents:  We will not be going to the YMCA on Monday.

Daily Report for Thursday December 15th 2016

Weather for Today: Snowy, Windy and Very Cold….

Period A:Emily went to her new co-op placement at Old Navy at the Scarborough Town Centre. She watched two video’s about safety. She then folded clothes and put them back on display. The rest of us began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then went to S-16 to continue glazing our Ceramic Candle holders.

Period B: We went to the ME Kitchen to prepare our lunch. Today we had “Breakfast  for  Lunch” . Matthew and Rebeca cut up the potatoes and onions for the Home Fries. Fahim cracked the eggs and fried the Home fries. Joel and Mark set the table and made the OJ. Rebeca made the French Toast. We all helped to make the pancakes.

  

Period C: We met Mr. Watson in the ME Kitchen where we finished cleaning up and had our dessert of Cinnamon Buns. We then went to S-18 where we continued to work on our wooden ornaments.

Period D: We practiced our song for next week’s Holiday Assembly. We filled in the Daily Report. We had our Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Wednesday December 14th 2016

Weather for Today: Sunny and very Cold…

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. Ahmed and Mark went to their co-op placement at Eastview Public School. They helped out with the school’s snack program. They washed the bins and stacked them. The rest of the class made our weekly trip to No Frills. Because it was so cold outside Mr. Wilkens had us take the 86 A Scarborough bus on the way there. We purchased the groceries for tomorrow’s lunch. We will be having Breakfast for Lunch, or brunch. Despite the cold we walked back from the store.

Period B: We came back to class where we decorated the classroom for the Holidays. We then went to S-16 where began glazing our Ceramic Candle Holders.

  

Period C: We met Mr. Watson in S-18. Some of us worked on our wooden decorations while some of us helped to clean the shop.

Period D: We used the Promethean Board to research holidays of other faiths. We filled in the Daily Report. We had our Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Tuesday December 13th 2016

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We began with Circle Talk where we spoke about what we had done over the weekend. Fahim and Matthew went to their co-op placement at the Boys and Girls Club. They were sorting Christmas presents. The rest of us wrote in our Weekend Journals. At the end of the period we presented our journals to the class.

Period B: We did a money math activity using plastic money and a money math flipchart on the Promethean Board.

  

Period C: Mr. Watson is back today. We met him in S-7 where we helped to wash the dishes from the Maplewood Mindfulness Community lunch. We then went to S-18 where we continued to work on the wooden Christmas tree decorations. Those of us who had finished our decorations watched a movie.

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had our Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Monday December 12th 2016

             

Weather for Today: Partly Cloudy and Cold…

We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then left school for our weekly trip to the YMCA. We took the Scarborough 86E bus to Kennedy Station. We then took the LRT to McCowan Station. We walked to the YMCA where we changed into our gym clothes. We went upstairs to the indoor track where we walked for 2K. We then went back to the change room to change into our swim wear. We went swimming in the pool. We then got changed back in to our street clothes. We walked to the Scarborough Town Centre to eat our lunch in the Food Court. After walking around the Town Centre for a while,we took the TTC back to school.

Period D: We filled in the Daily Report. We had our Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Friday December 9th 2016

Weather for Today: Partly Cloudy and  Cold….

Period A: Emily and Joel went to their Co-op placement at Dollarama. They faced merchandise and stocked shelves. The rest of us began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then went to S-16 to work on our ceramic Christmas Candle holders. Today we attached the Holly Leaves and Berries to the top of the holders.

Period B: We continued working on our clay projects. We then returned to the classroom where we worked on some coloring pages. We then began practicing the song we will be singing in the Holiday assembly, ``Hark the Herald Angels Sing``

  

Period C: We met Mr. Sikorsky in S-18. We finished up our wooden Christmas Ornaments and watched a movie.

Period D: We filled in the Daily Report. We had our Body Scan Mindfulness exercise.

Note to Parents: We will be going swimming at the YMCA on Monday. Students will need swim wear and a towel.

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We went to the ME Kitchen to prepare our lunch. Ahmed, Matthew and Fahim grated the cheese. Joel and Mark cleaned and set the table. Emily, Nerissa and Rebeca cut up the garnish for the salad.

Period B: We went to the Computer lab where we worked on individual educational programs.

  

Period C: We met in the ME Kitchen to clean up. When we had finished the clean up we had our dessert. We also sang happy birthday to Nerissa who turned 19 yesterday !

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had our Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Wednesday December 7th 2016

Weather for Today: Overcast and Cold…

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We did a money math activity. We used a combination of plastic money and a Promethean flipchart to identify and add up different coins and bills. We also went to the ME Kitchen to make and bake a chocolate cake for Nerissa’s birthday celebration.

Period B: We went to S- 16 to continue work on our ceramic Christmas Candle holders. Today we scratched and attached the top of the candle holder to the base.

After we had eaten our lunch we went Dance Club where we practiced our act for the Holiday Assembly.

  

Period C: We met Mr. Sikorski in S-18. We continued to work on our wooden Christmas ornaments. Mr. Stolte came to the classroom, with his class, to sell Red Nose Reindeer Noses to raise money for the TDSB nutrition program.

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had our Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Tuesday December 6th 2016

               

Weather for Today: Overcast and Cold…..

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We did a Circle Talk activity where we spoke about what we had done over the weekend. Mr. Wilkens wrote some point form notes on the black board about our weekends. We then began to write in our Weekend Journals.

Period B: We had our weekly trip to No Frills to buy groceries for Thursday’s  lunch. We will be having Macaroni and Cheese with Garden Salad. For dessert we will be having a Chocolate Birthday cake to celebrate Nerrisa’s nineteenth birthday. When we got back from No Frills we went to the ME Kitchen to put away the groceries. We then went back to our classroom where we presented our journals to the class.

  

Period C: Mr. Watson is still away so we met Mr. Sikorsky in S-18. Some of us finished painting our Napkin Holders. We also worked on some Christmas Tree Decorations. Today we sanded and stained some wooden hearts and stars.

Period D: We watched a video about mindfulness. We learned about the feelings that can arise when we identify things as “mine”.  We filled in the Daily Report. We had our Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Monday December 5th 2016

Weather for Today: Sunny with a few Cloud's and Cold…..

We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then left school for our weekly trip to the YMCA. We took the Scarborough 86 Bus to Kennedy Station. We then took the LRT to McCowan Station. We walked to the Y. We changed into our gym clothes and went upstairs to the indoor track where we walked for 2 miles ( 3.2 K ) We then went to one of the gym’s where we played some badminton. To finish off our PE exercise’s we went on the treadmill machines for 10 minutes. After changing back into our street clothes we walked to the Scarborough Town Centre to eat our lunch at the Food Court. We walked around the mall for a while and then took the TTC back to school.

Period D: We filled in the Daily Report. We had our Mindfulness Meditation sitting.
