Daily Report for Thursday January 28th 2016

Weather for Today: Overcast and Cold….

Period A: We went upstairs and washed our hands and faces. Today we continued gluing pictures on to our “ All About Me “ posters.

Period B: We prepared our lunch. Scottie and Mirron set the table. Rebeca and Nerissa helped to make the Cole Slaw. Fahim made the Fruit Punch. Mirron grated the cheddar cheese with the Cuisinart.

Period C: We did a money math activity where we learned how to use different coins and bills to come up with various amounts.

Period D: We celebrated Mirron’s 21^st. birthday with Chocolate Cake and Ice Cream. We did our classroom jobs. We filled in the daily report. We had our daily Mindfulness Mediation sitting.

Note to Parents: Free Pizza Lunch tomorrow. Send no lunch.

Period A: We went upstairs and washed our hands and faces. Today we began completing the projects we have been working on for so long. We glued pictures we had previously cut out of magazines on to our “ All About Me “ posters.   

                                     

 Period B: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then walked to the local No Frills to buy groceries for tomorrow’s lunch. We bought cheddar cheese, macaroni noodles, cabbage and carrots as well as some fruit punch.  

 Period C: Mr. Wilkens demonstrated how to bake a cake from a cake mix. We then did our Current Events activity.

 Period D: We did our classroom jobs. We filled in the daily report. We had our daily Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Weather for Today: Partly Cloudy and cold ( though not too cold )…

Period A: We went upstairs and washed our hands and faces. We continued to work on using the dictionary to look up descriptive words for use in our projects.

Period B: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then had our weekly Drama activity. We played two games of Musical Chairs and then did the Circle Dance . In the second half of the period we wrote in our Weekend Journals.

Period C: Because of the Fun Fair in Period D we did our usual period D activities this period.  We did our classroom jobs. We filled in the daily report. We had our daily Mindfulness Mediation sitting.

Period D: We went to Fun Fair in the Gym led by Ms. Reid’s Leadership Class. We played games like Bean Bag Toss, bowling, Rubber Chicken Toss and Pin the Nose on the Snowman. It was a lot of fun !

Period A: We went upstairs and washed our hands and faces. We continued to work on using the dictionary to look up descriptive words for use in our projects.

At 10:00 we left school to go to the YMCA. We took the 86 Scarborough bus to Kennedy Station and then the LRT to McCowan station. When we got to the Y we changed into our swim wear and then went swimming in the pool. After we had finished swimming we changed back into clothes and left the Y. We went to the Food Court and ate our lunch, after which we explored a little around the Town Centre. We then took the TTC back to school.

Period D: We did our classroom jobs. We filled in the daily report. We had our daily Mindfulness Mediation sitting.

Period A: We went upstairs and washed our hands and faces. We continued to work on using the dictionary to look up descriptive words for use in our projects.

Period B: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We went upstairs to the Computer Lab where we worked on various educational programs.

Period C: We had our weekly Yoga session led by Ms. Merlin. We did some breathing exercises and then practiced some different poses such as the Tree pose, the Table pose and the Warrior pose.

Period D: We did our classroom jobs. We filled in the daily report. We had our daily Mindfulness Mediation sitting.

Note to Parents: We will be going swimming at the YMCA on Monday. Please ensure that students have swim wear and a towel.

Period A: We went upstairs and washed our hands and faces. We continued to work on using the dictionary to look up descriptive words for use in our projects.

Period B: We prepared our lunch. Emily and Mark set the table. Myrron, Scottie and Rebeca made the meatballs. Fahim washed  the lettuce for the salad. Merissa and Shakur made the Garlic Bread. We ate our lunch early so that Scottie and Keyur could go to their co-op placement at Shoppers Drug Mart at 11:30.

Period C: We all helped to clean the kitchen/classroom. We had our dessert of Fruit Cocktail  and Vanilla Ice Cream. We then did a new art activity. We made a painting/print using four different colors.

Period D: We did our classroom jobs. We filled in the daily report. We had our daily Mindfulness Mediation sitting.

Period A: We went upstairs and washed our hands and faces. We continued to work on using the dictionary to look up descriptive words for use in our projects.

Period B: We walked to the local No Frills to buy groceries for tomorrow’s lunch. We bought ground beef, spaghetti noodles and sauce, romaine lettuce and some French Bread to make Garlic Bread. When we got back to class we  put away the groceries and then had time for our Mindfulness Minutes.

Period C: We did our current events activity. Mr. Wilkens showed us how to answer the questions on the worksheet and then we all filled our worksheets. We then presented our work to the class.

Period D: We did our classroom jobs. We filled in the daily report. We had our daily Mindfulness Mediation sitting.

Weather for Today: Sunny and COLD….

Period A: Fahim went to his co-op placement at Giant Tiger. The rest of the class went upstairs where we washed our hands and faces. We continued work on using the dictionary to look up words for our project.

Period B: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. Myrron and Mark set the table for the Maplewood Mindfulness Community lunch. We then had our weekly drama activity. We played 2 games of Musical Chairs. Myrron won the first game and Scottie was the winner of the second game. We then did our Circle Dance activity.

Period C: Nerissa, Emily and Rebeca went to their co-op placement at Value Village. Keyur and Myrron did the dishes. Mark and Scottie cleaned the tables and counters. Shakur swept the floors. We then did some money math where we used 5, 10 and 20 dollar bills as well as different coins to come up with different amounts.

Period D: We did our classroom jobs. We filled in the daily report. We had our daily Mindfulness Mediation sitting.

Period A: We went upstairs and washed our hands and faces. We continued to learn how to use the dictionary to look up words we will be using to describe ourselves for our “ All About Me “ posters.

Period A: Ms. Lupo was back today ! We went upstairs and washed our hands and faces. We then continued to use the dictionary to look up new words to use in our project.

Period B: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then prepared our lunch. Emily and Nerissa set the table. Fahim washed the lettuce. Shakur, Myrron and Rebeca cut up the garnish for the salad. Scottie prepared the Tomato soup. We then all made the Grilled Cheese sandwichs.

Period C: Scottie and Keyur went to their co-op placement at Shoppers Drug Mart. We cleaned up the dishes and the kitchen. We wqatched Mr. Wilkens demonstrate making Chocolate Chip Cookies and we all had a chance to portion out the dough and make the cookies. We then baked the cookies and ate them with some ice cream.

Period A: We had Ms. Diaz as our teacher again today. We went upstairs and washed our hands and faces. We then continued to work on our “ All About Me “ posters. We finished class early so we could go to the YMCA.

We took the TTC to the YMCA where we went swimming in the pool. We then went to the Food Court at the Scarborough Town Centre to eat our lunch. After we had finished eating we went to Freshco to buy groceries for tomorrow’s lunch. We then took the TTC back to school. When we got back to school we had just enough time for a short meditation sitting.

Period B: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. Myrron and Scottie set the table for the Maplewood Mindfulness Community lunch. We then had our weekly drama activity. We played three games of Musical Chairs. Nerissa won the first game, Rebeca won the second game and Keyur won the last game. We then did the Circle Dance activity.

Period A: We went to our upstairs classroom and washed our hands and faces. We wrote out the letters of the alphabet and practiced using the dictionary.

Period B: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then wrote in our weekend journals. When we had all finished our journals we presented them to the class.

Period C: We did an exercise where we wrote out our personal information. We filled in a worksheet with our names, address’s, phone numbers and our date of birth.

Period D: We did our classroom jobs. We filled in the daily report. We had our daily Mindfulness Mediation sitting.

Period A: Ms. Lupo was away again today and we had Mr. Loban as our supply teacher. We washed our hands and faces. We continued to work on our “ All About Me “ posters. Today we continued to cut out pictures from different  magazines.

Period B: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. Keyur went to do some TTC training. The rest of us did the food prep for our lunch. Fahim and Mark set the table. Myrron and Shakur grated the mozzarella cheese. Rebeca and Nerissa cut up the toppings for the pizza. Scottie washed the lettuce for the salad. We then all made our individual pizza’s.

Period C: Myrron and Keyur did the dishes. We then did our Current Events activity. When we had completed our worksheets we presented our work to the class.

Period A: We began by washing our hands and faces. Today Ms. Lupo taught us how to use a dictionary so that we could look up words that will help us describe ourselves for our “ All About Me” posters. We finished class half an hour early so that we could go to the YMCA.

After Ms. Lupo’s class we took the TTC to the YMCA. After changing into our gym clothes we went upstairs to the indoor track where we walked and/or ran for one mile. We then went downstairs where we used the treadmill machines for ten minutes. We then went to the Food Court at Scarborough Town Centre to eat lunch. After lunch we walked to the Freshco store to buy groceries for our lunch program.

Period D: We did our classroom jobs. We filled in the daily report. We had our daily Mindfulness Mediation sitting.

Note to Parents: As Mr. Wilkens will not be here tomorrow we will be having our Lunch Program lunch on Friday this week. Please send in a lunch tomorrow.

Period A: We washed our hands and faces. We began anew project today. We will be making a poster “ All About Me “. Today we cut out some pictures from magazines of different things we like.

Period B: Fahim went to hid co-op placement at Giant Tiger. We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. Keyur and Mirron set the table for the Maplewood Mindfulness Community lunch. We then did our weekly Drama activity. We played three games of Musical Chairs. Keyur won the first game. Nerissa won the second game and Mirron won the last game. We then did our Circle Dance activity. Today even Mr. Wilkens did some dancing !

Period C: Nerissa and Rebeca  went to their co-op placement at Value Village. Mr. Wilkens assigned us our monthly classroom jobs. Mirron and Keyur cleaned the dishes from the community lunch. We then went to the computer lab where we worked on various educational programs.

Period D: We did our classroom jobs. We filled in the daily report. We had our daily Mindfulness Mediation sitting.

Weather for Today: Mainly sunny and COLD !!!

Period A: We began by meeting in our classroom where Ms. Lupo took attendance. We then went upstairs to the Cosmetology classroom ( S-21) where we washed our hands and faces. We then spent the rest of the period cleaning the classroom.

Period B: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We took down the Christmas Tree and put away the ornaments. We then wrote in our weekend journals about what we did over the holidays. At the end of the period we presented our journal entries to the class.

Period C: We did a money math activity. We were given play money in different amounts and we had to add up different values. We then started on a money math worksheet.

Period D: We did our classroom jobs. We filled in the daily report. We had our daily Mindfulness Mediation sitting.
