Daily Report for Wednesday, February 28th 2018

Weather for Today: Sunny and Warmish….  

High:  13°C                   LOW : 2°C          P.O.P. : 20%

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We came up with a menu for tomorrow’s lunch. We then made a shopping list of the groceries we will need to make lunch tomorrow. We then walked to No Frills to buy the groceries. We will be having Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and mix vegetables. For dessert, we will be having chocolate pudding.

Period B: When we got back from No Frills we took the groceries we had bought to the ME Kitchen. We then used the IWB to do some numeracy activities.

Period C: Today in Ms. Queen’s class we were working on our fabric pencil cases. We were sewing the fabric by hand today.

Period D: We once again used the IWB to do some sequencing and ordering activities.. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Friday February 23rd 2018

Weather for Today: Light Rain and Coldish….

We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. Then we left school for our field trip to Harbourfront. We took the Scarborough 86 bus westbound to Kennedy Station. We got on the Line 2 subway to Yonge and Bloor Station. We transferred to the Line 1 subway and went south to Union Station where got 509 LRT which took us to Harbourfront. We went into the Harbourfront Centre where we saw a demonstration of Glassblowing.

 

Then we ate our lunch at some tables. We then went for a tour of some the Art galleries there. Next, we went to the Power Plant building where we saw some more art.

 After visiting the Art Shop we finished off our trip by checking out the Queens Quay Terminal.

We then took the TTC back to school in time for the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Thursday February 22nd 2018

Weather for Today: Overcast and Coolish….

High:  2°C           LOW : -2°C                   P.O.P. : 30%

Period A: We had our Mindfulness Minutes. We went to the ME Kitchen to prepare lunch. Ahmed and Mark set the table. Amena and Rebeca prepped all of the garnish for the Green Salad. Brandon and Fahim grated the two kinds of cheese. Shakur prepped the lettuce. Fahim made the Chocolate Pudding.

Period B: We continued with food prep. We went back to the classroom where we did some work on the IWB as well as practicing our assembly song.

Period C: We cleaned the kitchen and the dishes and then had our dessert. We went back to S-7 where we did some laundry as well as practicing our song.

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Tuesday February 20th 2018

Weather for Today: Overcast, Light Rain and Warmish…

Period A: Amena went to her Co-op placement at Giant Tiger. The rest of us had our Mindfulness Minutes. We then wrote in our Weekend Journals.

Period B: We went to the gym to join Ms. McDonald’s class for gym. Today we did the Twelve minute run. Then we played a game called Holy Moly. It involved running across the gym and trying not to lose your tabs. Rebeca was “it” and she did a good job catching other players. Here is a video of us playing Holly Moly.

 Then we played a game of Monster Ball. It was a lot of fun as well.

Period C: We met Ms. Queen in S-7. We cleaned up the dishes from the Mindfulness lunch. We began a new project today. We are making pencil cases out of cloth.

Period D: We practiced the song we hope to be singing next Monday at the Black History Month Assembly. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Thursday February 15th 2018

Weather for Today:  Overcast and coldish…

Period A: We had our Mindfulness Minutes. We went to the computer lab where we worked on various educational programs.

Period B: We used the IWB to do some yoga exercises. Then we did a Body Scan Mindfulness Exercise.

Period C: We met Ms. Queen in S-7. We watched a movie about a wedding. It was an enjoyable movie.

Period D: We went for a  Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report.   We used the IWB to do some research about Harbourfront.

Daily Report for Wednesday February 14th 2018

Weather for Today:  Sunny and Coldish…

Period A: We started off the day in the ME Kitchen.  We had our Mindfulness Minutes. Then we began the final preparation for today's Valentine’s Day Feast. We all helped out setting the tables in Room S-7. We also worked in the kitchen putting the final touches on the fabulous feast of Spaghetti with Meatballs, Caesar Salad and Garlic Bread.

Period B: We went back to our classroom where we finished off the Valentines Day cards we will be giving to Ms. Gregersen’s class when they get here. Our guests arrived and we all went to the partnership room where we decorated some cupcakes that we will be having for dessert. Here are some pictures of us decorating our Valentine’s Day Cupcakes….

We went to S-7 and joined Ms. Barwell’s class and Ms. Gregersen's class from Ionview Public school for the Feast. Here are some pictures of our guests and us enjoying the fine repast…..

Period C: We spent the entire period cleaning up in S-7 and the ME Kitchen. It was quite the cleanup, but it was worth it as we all had a great time and a great meal!

Period D:. We began to fill in the Daily Report. At 2:50 we were called down to the cafeteria for the Maplewood Valentines Dance!

Daily Report for Tuesday February 13th 2018

Weather for Today:  Partly Cloudy and Cold…

High: - 5°C          LOW : -16°C                 P.O.P. : 20%

Period A: We had our Mindfulness Minutes. Fahim, Ahmed, Brandon, Mark, Matthew and Nerissa went to the Special Olympics Bocce Ball Tournament in Whitby. They took a school bus there and competed with many other schools in an invitational tournament. Amena went to her co-op placement at Giant Tiger. The rest of the class made some Valentine’s Day cards to give to our guest’s tomorrow.

Period B: We went to the ME Kitchen to do some more food prep for tomorrows Valentine’s Day Feast. Amena and Rebeca washed and spun dried the lettuce. Nerushan and Shakur helped to clean the kitchen and prepare the Garlic Bread.

Period C: We continued to work on our Binder Covers’ for the first part of the period. We then helped to set up the tables and chairs for tomorrow’s feast.

Period D: We worked some more on the Valentine’s Day Cards. The Bocce Ball team got back from the tournament. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.
