Daily Report for Wednesday October 9th 2019

Weather for Today: Sunny and Coolish….

Period A: Frances portioned out some Minestrone Soup into containers. Aaliyah and Aaisha set up the Staff Dining Room. They also helped to make some Chick Pea Salad. Deandre and Daidrean wrote the menu on the whiteboard and also portioned out some Cranberry Sauce into individual containers for tomorrows Turkey Lunch.

Period B: We had our Morning Mindfulness Minutes. We then went to the CPC-ML to make some Tea Biscuits. Mr. Wilkens demonstrated how to make the biscuits and then we split into two teams to make our own biscuits.

Period C: We used the Microsoft Surface laptops to work on our IXL programs.

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Tuesday October 8th 2019

Weather for Today: Clear, Sunny and Coolish…

Period A: Frances went to her Co-op placement at Giant Tiger. She put Christmas clothes on hangers. Aaisha and Aaliyah set up the Staff Dining Room. Aaisha also portioned out some grated coconut. Aaliyah helped to prep some vegetables for Turkey stock. Deandre and Daidrean wrote the menu on the whiteboard. They also portioned out some dry macaroni.

Period B: We had our Morning Mindfulness Minutes. We went to the Art Room ( S-16) where continued work on our Ceramic project, a hand built mug. Today we put the bottoms and handles on our mugs.

Period C: We had our weekly drama activity. We acted out different feelings. Then we did two new dram activities, one where we split into pairs and did a mirror action. We then formed a circle where we had to make a sound and then we went around the circle and repeated the sounds. We finished off our Drama with three games of Musical Chairs.

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Monday October 7th 2019

Weather for Today: Overcast and Coolish…

Period A: Frances and Aaisha wrote the menu on the whiteboard. Frances, Aaisha and Khina iced some Carrot Cake Squares. Aaliyah and Deandre set up the Staff Dining Room. They also put some herbs on trays to be dried out. Daidrean washed the dishes from the morning as well as washing the floor.

Period B: We had our Morning Mindfulness Minutes. We did our Weekend Journal activity. We wrote in our journals some of the things we had done over the weekend. When we were done writing we presented our work to the class.

Period C: We used the Surface Laptop computers to log on to IXL, a math program we will be using. Today we all did a diagnostic test to see what our skill level was.

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Friday October 4th 2019

Weather for Today: Overcast and Cool…

Period A: Khina, Aaisha and Frances wrote the menu on the whiteboard . They also helped to make some Carrot Cake. Deandre set up the Staff Dining Room and helped with the dishes in the kitchen. Daidrean took a long time to fill up the Water Jugs.

Period B: We went to the Cafeteria for the Terry Fox Fundraising Wrap Up Assembly. We found out the school raised $1,4248 !!! We got to see a bunch of staff and students doing strange things like eating crickets, having a mud bath and having pies thrown in their faces ! It was a lot fun.

Period C: We did a series of Yoga Asana’s using You Tube on the IWB. We then did a Body Scan Mindfulness exercise.

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report.

Daily Report for Thursday October 3^rd 2019

Weather for Today: Overcast, Rainy and Cool….

Period A: Deandre helped to set up the Staff Dining Room, he also washed some dishes. Frances helped to make some biscuits. Aaliyah and Khina helped to make some cookies. Daidrean wrote the menu on the whiteboard  as well as portioning out some cookies.

Period B: We had our Morning Mindfulness Minutes. We then went to the CPC-ML to make some pancake. We split the class into two groups and each group made a batch of pancakes. Aaliyah and Deandre ate their pancakes while the rest of us wrapped them up take home.

Period C: We went back to the kitchen where Mr. Wilkens gave a lesson on the different types of kitchen utensils we use as well where to put the utensils in the kitchen. We then returned to class where we filled in a worksheet on kitchen utensils.

Period D: Because it was raining we were unable to go for a Community Walk. Instead, we walked around inside the school. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Wednesday October 2^nd 2019

Weather for Today: Overcast, Rainy and Cool…

Period A: In Food School today we were unable to work in the Kitchen as there was some construction work going on. Instead, we watched a movie called Tall Girl.

Period B: We had our weekly Drama activity. We were given different feelings, such as sadness or excitement, and we had to act out those feelings while the rest of the class guessed what the feeling was. We also watched a short video about anger. At 11:00 o’clock we went to the gym to take part in a Terry Fox fundraising activity. The Leadership class had created an obstacle course that we were challenged to run. Frances, Aaliyah and Deondre all accepted the challenge and ran the course.

Period C: We did our Current Events activity. We choose an article from the StarMetro newspaper. We cut out the picture accompanying the article and pasted it on to a worksheet. We then answered the questions on the worksheet. When we were done we presented our work to the class.  

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Tuesday October 1^st 2019

Weather for Today: Mainly Sunny and HOT!

High:  30°C          LOW :  16°C                   P.O.P. : 40%

Period A: Frances and Daidrean made some Cabbage Rolls. Khina and Aaisha wrote out the menu on the whiteboard. Aaisha also helped to make the Cabbage Rolls. Deandre helped to set up the staff dining room.

Period B: We went to S-7 to set the table for the Maplewood Mindfulness Community lunch. We also helped to make some Chana Masala for the lunch. Daidrean cut up the onions. Aaisha and Frances cut up some sweet peppers. When we finished we went back to Room S-9A where we did some spelling drills.

Period C: We went to S-7 where we cleaned up after the lunch. We then went to the Computer Lab in Room 205 where we worked on individual educational programs.

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.
