Daily Report for Friday March 31st 2017

Weather for Today: Rainy and Cool….

HIGH : 4°C                     LOW :2 °C                 P.O.P. : 100%

Period A: We met Ms. McDonald in the gym. We warmed up by practicing our Basketball skills. We then went to the Yoga Room ( Room S-22) We did a number of Asanas, mostly stretches. We also did t Mr. Wilkens favourite pose, Savasana, or the corpse pose. We then went back to the Gym where we played a game of Floor Hockey.

Period B: We met Mr. Wilkens in Room 200. We had our Mindfulness Minutes. We then went to the ME Kitchen where we all worked very hard to prepare our lunch. We were celebrating Emily’s birthday with a special luncheon of  Curry Goat, Rice and Peas and Cole Slaw. The Sasitharan Boyz set the table and made the Lime Aide. Ahmed and Fahim had the not so nice task of cutting the onions. Nerissa and Matthew peeled and Grated the Carrots. The Birthday girl, Emily iced and decorated the cupcakes with the help of Rebeca. We also had two guests for the birthday lunch, Rebeca’s sister Griselda as well as Angilie  another student from the alternate program here at Maplewood. We had our dessert of Chocolate Cupcakes with pink icing and ice cream after singing Happy Birthday to Emily who did a fine job of blowing out the imaginary candles.    

Period C:We did our best to clean up the Kitchen. It was somewhat challenging as all four sinks in the ME Kitchen  were plugged. We organized the dishes and pots and pans on a cart to be taken to the Hobart Machine in the Food School kitchen when it is possible.  

Period D:. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Body Scan Mindfulness exercise.

Mr. Wilkens was at a PD Session This Afternoon.

As a result of this situation the Daily Report was not done in Favour of a Truip to the Gym.

Daily Report for Tuesday March 28th 2017

Weather for Today: Sunny and Warmish….

HIGH : 11 °C                     LOW : 4°C                        P.O.P. : 20%

Today we made another attempt at getting the TTC Support Cards for some of the students. We left with Ms. Kim’s class at 9:30. We took the Scarborough 86 to Kennedy Station. We got off at Yonge and Bloor and got on the Line 1 Subway going North. We got off at Davisville Station and went to the Head Office of the TTC. Ahmed, Matthew , Mark and Fahim had their pictures taken and then Mr. Wilkens put in the paperwork. The cards will be sent in the mail, hopefully soon.

We walked through Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

 We went to St. Clair  Station where we got on the subway again and traveled south to Dundas Station. We had lunch in the Food Court at the Eaton Centre then walked through the mall to Queen Station. We got back on the subway and went to Bloor and Yonge, transferred to the Line 2 subway and went to Kennedy Station. We took the 86D Bus back to school.

We filled in the Daily Report. We had our Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Monday March 27th 2017

Weather for Today: Rainy and Warm…

HIGH : 14°C                     LOW : 5°C                         P.O.P. : 100 %

Period A: We met Ms. McDonald in the gym. Today we practiced our Bocce Ball skills.

Period B: We met in Room 200. We had our Mindfulness Minutes. We then worked on our Weekend Journals. Since today is a short staff meeting day we were able to finish watching the movie we started last short day. The movie was called Grease. There was a lot of singing and dancing. There was also some really cool cars.   

After lunch we went to the Games Room where some of us played Bowling on the Wii.

Period C: We continued to watch the movie.

Period D: We finished watching the movie. We filled in the Daily Report.

Note to Parents: We will be going on  Field Trip to TTC Offices at Davisville Station. Students will need a lunch or $ for Lunch. Lunch Program Lunch will be Friday this week. Please send in a lunch or $ for lunch on Thursday March 30^th.

Daily Report for Friday March 24th 2017

Weather for Today: Overcast and Cool….

HIGH : 9°C                     LOW : 1°C                           P.O.P. : 100%

Period A: We met Mr. Sullivan in the gym. We played basketball as a warm up. We then went to the Weight Room and worked out with various fitness equipment. We went back to the gym and played game of soccer.   

Period B: We went to the Room 204 Computer Lab where we worked on various educational programs. Fahim began some literacy work on the Raz Kids site.   

Period C: We finally got to do our Drama activity after a long hiatus. We played two games of Musical Chairs, Mark won the first game and Rebeca was victorious in the second game. We went for a Community Walk.  

Period D: We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Body Scan Mindfulness exercise. We observed Earth Hour from 2:00 to 3:00 O’clock.

Note to Parents: Monday is a Staff Meeting Day schedule. Bus P/U at 12:30 PM.

Daily Report for Thursday March 23rd. 2017

Weather for Today: Sunny and Cool…..

HIGH : 1 °C                     LOW :-6 °C                         P.O.P. : 10%

Period A: We met Mr. Sullivan in the gym. We warmed up with some basketball practice. We then continued to practice our Soccer Skills.

Period B: Most of the class participated in the In School ISP Soccer Tournament. We all had a very good and fun time. Meanwhile, Matthew and Rebeca were working very hard helping Mr. Wilkens with the final prep for the Feast. Here are some pictures of the amazing spread…

Period C:Emily went to her co-op placement at Dollarama, a where she once again stocked shelves with merchandise. The rest of us had to deal with the less attractive part of the Feast, namely the massive clean up that was required. However we all worked very hard and got the job done in a timely fashion.

Period D: We filled in the Daily Report for yesterday as well as today. We had our Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Wednesday March 22nd 2017

Weather for Today: Sunny and Cold…….

HIGH : -2°C                     LOW : -8 °C                        P.O.P. : 10%

Period A: We met Mr. Sullivan in the gym. We warmed up by playing some basketball. Since we are having an in-school  a Soccer Tournament tomorrow, we practiced our soccer skills.

Period B: We met in the ME Kitchen. We started out with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then began doing some more food prep for tomorrow`s Greek Feast. Fahim and Ahmed peeled and cut up the potatoes. Shakur and the Sasitharan Boyz  peeled the almonds for the Baklava. Matthew prepped the roast vegetables for the Vegetarian Moussaka. Emily and Rebeca cut up the sweet peppers and the eggplant for the Moussaka and did a great job on the very difficult task of cutting up the onions.    

Period C: We continued working on prep for the feast.

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We did not have time to fill in the Daily Report.
