Today’s Date:

Monday November 11^th. 2013

The Weather Today was :

Cloudy and Cold, High: 6 Low: -3  P.O.P: 70%

Today we went to the YMCA. We walked around the upstairs Track for the first 20 minutes. Then we changed into our swim wear and went swimming in the pool. Arqum and Megan did not bring swim wear so they went downstairs to the cardio machines and did 20 minutes on the treadmill.

Tomorrow we will:  Be working on our Ceramic Angels in the Art Room then we will do our Drama activity. It will also be our first day in Gym with Mr. Ellis.

Daily Report for Friday November 8th. 2013

Today’s Date:

Friday November 8^th./13

The Weather Today was :

Cold, partly cloudy High: 6 Low: 2 P.O.P. : 40%

In Class Today

Period 1: We went to the computer lab where we checked out the weather forecast then practiced our puzzle skills on Jigzone.

Period 2: Because today was a special schedule the periods were only 25 minutes long, so we stayed in the computer lab.

Period 3: Since it was a short period and the end of the Term, we just cleaned up- in the shop. At 10:30 we went to an Awards Ceremony for the whole school. Taylor won the award for Most Respectful Student in our class, Curtis won an award for Most Improved Student, Megan won the Most Improved Student in Baking and Spencer won Best Employability Skills in Baking.

Period 4: We did our classroom jobs, filled in the Daily Report then we all got to go to a Special ISP Dance so Mr. Wilkens could finish our Report Cards…..

On Monday we will:  Be going to the YMCA. We are going to go swimming and do some exercise on the Track.

Note to Parents : If you have not already done so, please ensure your child has Swim Wear and Gym Wear.

Thursday November 7^th./13

The Weather Today was :

Cloudy and Cool, High: 7 Low: 2   P.O.P.: 30%

Today we went on a field trip to The Royal Winter Fair ! It was a great trip. We saw all sorts of animals such as pigs, sheep, chickens, horses and of course cows.

We actually managed to find a picnic table at the Food Court where we could sit down and eat the lunches we made for ourselves. Considering how crowded it was at the fair, we were lucky!

When it was time to leave, we had a bit of a scare. The 1:30 GO train was delayed because of a Signal problem…. We were worried we might be late getting back to school.   

However, in the end we made it back with 5 minutes to spare !

It was a great trip !

Tomorrow we will:  Be going to the Computer Lab and the Library in the morning. At 1:00 there will be a special ISP Dance !

Note to Parents : There will be NO Cafeteria service tomorrow, students need to bring a lunch.

Wednesday November 6th. /13

The Weather Today was :

In Class Today

Period 1: We prepared our lunches for tomorrow’s field trip to The Royal Winter Fair. We made Egg Salad Sandwiches and Tuna Salad Sandwiches.

Period 2: We did our Current Event  Activity worksheets and finished packing our lunches for tomorrow.

Period 3: Since it was our last full class in Bake Shop, Mr. Stevenson had a special treat for us. We all got to ice and decorate our own Sugar Cookies.  We had a great time in Baking and will miss Mr. Stevenson and Mrs. Perkins.

Period 4: We started off the period by celebrating Arqum’s birthday ! Mr. Wilkens made a chocolate cake and we all sang Happy Birthday to Arqum. Then we all (except for Curtis and Megan ) got to have some cake and ice cream. Then we went to the Caf. To see a special presentation by Ms. McLaren’s class. They put on an original play about bullying and prejudice. It was a great show.

Daily Report for Tuesday November 5th. 2013

Tuesday November 5^th./13

The Weather Today was :

In Class Today

Period 1: We went to the Art room where we worked on a new ceramic project. We are making Ceramic Angel Candleholders. We got a  good start on the project today, we got the angel’s body and wings made.

Period 2: We usually do Drama at this time, but since Markeisha and Arqum were away today and Curtis and Megan were at co-op, Mr. Wilkens decided to do an experiential learning activity with those of us here. We made some Curry Powder that we hope to sell to raise funds for our lunch program.

Period 3: In baking today Curtis and Jessica sold Pumpkin Pies. They sold six pies @ $5.00 a pop. A good deal ! Taylor, Spencer and Megan worked in the shop. Taylor and Spencer ( Team Red! ) cut out gingerbread shapes. Megan helped to put lids on Fruitcake.

Period 4: We came back to class, did our classroom jobs then filled in the Daily Report. After that we had time for a longer than usual sitting.

Tomorrow we will:  Preparing our Lunch which we will be bringing to the Royal Winter Fair on Thursday.

Monday November 4^th./13

The Weather Today was :

Partly Cloudy, mostly sunny…High: 5  Low: 4  P.O.P : 20%

Today was a great day ! After over 8 weeks at school, we finally got to go to the YMCA ! The mix up with the membership was finally straightened out. When we got to the Y it turned out that Curtis, Taylor, Jessica and Megan had forgot to bring their gym clothes. Lucky for us we were still able to do some exercise. We started out by walking around the track then we went downstairs to use the treadmills. It was good exercise and fun too. When we had finished with our workouts we went to Scarborough Town Centre to eat lunch in the Food Court. After lunch we went shopping at Freshco to buy ingredients for our lunches which we will be bringing to the Royal Winter Fair on Thursday.

Tomorrow we will:  Starting a new Art Project. We also will be doing drama.

Friday November 1^st/13

The Weather Today was :

Windy and Cloudy  High 12  Low  8  P.O.P. : 40%

In Class Today

Period 1: We started out the day with our usual Computer Lab activity. We went to the Weather Network site to find out about what the weather will be like this weekend, then we went to Jigzone.com to practice our puzzle making skills. Arqum started to do research on a project he will be working on, an investigation of Sufi Meditation….

When we got back to class we began to clean up the classroom from yesterday’s party and take down the Halloween decorations.

Period 2: First we went to the school Library where Mr. Wilkens read a book to us. The book was called Wavin’ Flag and it was about the song of the same name by K’naan. We learned about Somalia and how K’naan came to write this famous song. After library we came back to class and finished cleaning up.

Period 3: In Baking Jessica, Spencer ,Curtis and Taylor  went around the school selling baked goods. Arqum, Julian and Megan  helped to package goods and then measure out ingredients for Honey Oaties.

Period 4: We got assigned new classroom  jobs for the month of November. Then we did our jobs and filled in the Daily Report. Then we had just enough time for a short sitting.

On Monday we will:  Hopefully go to the YMCA. If the Board has not paid our membership yet (!) we will do some shopping for the lunch we are going to bring on Thursdays trip to The Royal Winter Fair.
