Today was a very special day !! Thanx to the incredible
planning and organizational skills of Mr. Smith our class was able to enjoy a
Field Trip to the Toronto Zoo ! It was a beautiful day, weather wise, and the
threat of thunderstorms that were predicted in the weather forecasts only
served to keep a lot of people away from the zoo and
make it possible for us to enjoy a uncrowded experience. It was also somewhat
noteworthy that our missing in action regular teacher, Mr. Wilkens, was able to
accompany us for a part of the day.
Here is a group shot of our class when we began our day….
The first place we went to was the Panda Bear exhibit, here
is a video of one of the bears eating some bamboo....
We learned that Panda’s eat
up to 47 kilograms of Bamboo a day !
Here are a couple of pictures of the Panda bears…
Here is a picture of us in the fake bamboo forest…
After seeing the Panda’s we went to check out the polar
bears.. we saw the polar bear cub named Humphrey. He was very cute, though
perhaps somewhat lonely as he had to be separated from his parents for safety
reasons ( ? ) Here is a video of Humphrey the Bear…
On our way to the African Pavilion we went through the North
American habitat section where we saw this Snow Owl…
At this point Mr. Wilkens had to leave us so he could go
home and rest, so this is the last photo of us…
We had our lunch and then went to see other exhibits. We all
agreed that the Gorilla’s were amazing.
Before we left to go back to school we got to go to the gift
shop where many of us were able to buy some souvenirs of our visit.
All in all, a great time was had by all !!!
Once again a massive thank you to Mr. Smith, who made this
all possible for us.
Tomorrow, in honour of Asian Heritage Month, we will be buying
some Pad Thai from a restaurant near school and bringing back to have in class.
Too bad Mr. Wilkens wasn’t here to make it , but then again it would be kinda
hard to make Pad Thai without a stove!
