Daily Report for October 31st. 2013

Today’s Date:

The Weather Today was :

 Rain, Rain, Rain ! and Warm  High: 16  Low: 14 P.O.P.:100%

In Class Today

Period 1: We made the final preparations for our Halloween Feast. Taylor washed the lettuce for the salad, Markeisha, Spencer and Julian set  the table with 30 place settings ! Spencer and Jessica made the Garlic Bread and Curtis and Jessica set up for the Cupcake Decorating activity.

Period 2: Our guests from Ionview Public School arrived and we all went to the Halloween Makeup Workshop. Here are some pictures of us…

After we got our makeup done at the Workshop we all got to go through Rain Infinity’s Fear Factor… It was so very scary…

After we had all had the wits scared out of us we went back to our class for the big Feast ! We had Spaghetti with Meatballs, Garlic Bread and Caesar Salad. It was a delicious meal..

We had a great time hosting the classes from Ionview. This is a group photo of us and our guests....

Period 3: We got to baking a little late because of the celebrations but when we got there we were very busy. We had to help pack up a big order that is to go out tomorrow.

Period 4: It was time for us to go to our Halloween Dance. It was great fun. Ms. Reed and her dance class put on a fantastic stage show to Michael Jackson’s Thriller ! It was an amazing performance.

Tomorrow we will: Be taking down the Halloween decorations and finishing cleaning up our classroom  since we did not  have enough time to do it today. We will also be going to the Computer Lab and hopefully  the Library as well.

In Class Today

Period 1: We finally got around to decorating the classroom for All Hallows Eve ! Mr. Wilkens had to look all over the school for the class decorations as they had been mistakenly appropriated by Mr. Infinity. Luckily they were found. Here is a sample of our class decorations….

Period 2: We managed to squeeze in our usual Wed. Current Event Activity and even had time for a short session of Drama.. we played a couple of games of musical chairs. 

Period 3: In Bake shop we were kept very busy as well ! Megan and Jessica made Chocolate Chip Cookies. Curtis and Taylor  worked on making the pastry for Tarts. Arqum and Spencer sifted flour and Markeisha and Julian worked on Butter Tarts…..

Period 4: We cleaned up the classroom, did our classroom jobs, filled in the Daily Report and then had a well deserved sitting…..

Tomorrow we will:  Have 22 guests for our Special Halloween Feast of Spaghetti, Caesar Salad. Garlic Bread and Cupcakes ! We will also be going to the Halloween Makeup Workshop and the Maplewood Fear Fest !!

Daily Report for October 29th. 2013

Today’s Date:

Tuesday 29^th./13

The Weather Today was :

Sunny and Cool, High: 9 Low: 4 P.O.P.:30%

In Class Today

Period 1: Since we are having 22 guests for Lunch on Thursday, we had to get an early start on making the meal, so we went shopping today. Food Basics had canned tomatoes on sale so we went there instead of No Frills. We bought the ingredients for spaghetti sauce and the meat to make meatballs.

Period 2: We got back a little late from shopping but we had time to prep the vegetables for the spaghetti sauce. Mr. Wilkens made the sauce while we were in Baking.

Period 3: Arqum, Curtis and Spencer measured and mixed the ingredients for tarts. Megan, Jessica and Markeisha were making Oatmeal Raisin Cookies.

Period 4: We cleaned up the classroom then did our daily report. That left enough time for a skillful sitting !

Tomorrow we will: Continue to prep for Thursday’s lunch, hopefully we can make the meatballs. Also, we hope to be able to do some of our Drama activity, at least that is what Arqum would like….

In Class Today

Period 1: Glazed our Ceramic Pumpkins

Period 2: Finished off glazing of our Pumpkins.

Period 3: In the Bake Shop , since it was a short day, we helped to clean the shop.

Period 4: We did our classroom jobs, filled in the daily report and since it was a short day, we did not have time for our sitting.

Tomorrow we will:  We will be going to No Frills a day early so we can get started on Thursday’s lunch.

Friday Oct.25th./13

The Weather Today was :

In Class Today

 We had our last day at Lucy McCormick. To start off we all got to make ourselves an Omelette. We got to put in our choice of Feta Cheese, diced tomato's, red and green peppers. The omelette's were very good. Julian and Arqum worked in the servery for our last day....

After we had our lunch break Markeisha, Megan, Spencer and Arqum went for a walk with Mr. Wilkens to a local fish shop, Osler Fish Store. We got to see a wide variety of fish for sale....

We had a great time this week at Lucy McCormick. We are very grateful to Aida, the teacher of the food program. We took a group shot of all of us to remember the good times we had...

On Monday we will:  

Since Monday is a short day we do not need a lunch. The bus will be picking us up at 12:15. We will be glazing our Ceramic Pumpkins and decorating the classroom for All Hallow's Eve !

Once again we were at Lucy McCormick to work in the Food Program there. We had another good day. The whole class was here again today. Spencer and Megan served the food in the servery...

We did something special during our Lunch Break. We went to a local Tropical Fish store and bought a new fish for our classroom fish tank. Ms. Appleton likes to look at the fish tank when she is meditating during the Tuesday Maplewood Mindfulness Community sitting. She wanted us to buy a Black Moor goldfish to add to the tank. So we did ! This is our class outside the store...

 Mr. Wilkens bought the fish and added it to the class tank. We hope it likes it's new home.

Tomorrow we will:  

Be going back to Lucy McCormick one last time. We are going to make omelette's for ourselves ! It should be a lot of fun, not to mention delicious !

We went to Lucy Mc Cormick School again today to work in the Food Program. Everybody was here to day, even Arqum !!! WE had a very good time there… here are some pictures of us working…

Tomorrow we will get some more pictures. Today was special in another way., We celebrated Spencer's Birthday with a Birthday Cake made by Mr. Wilkens. Here is a video of us singing Happy Birthday....

Daily Report for Tuesday October 22nd. 2013

The Weather Today was :

  In Class Today

   Megan, Taylor, Julian and Spencer all went to the Cross Country Meet at Thompson Park. Though                                            the weather was very cool, they all had a good time. Arqum, Curtis, Markeisha and our   

special guest star, Sean, went to Lucy McCormick School to work in that school’s foods program. 

  We help prepare food , serve the food in the school cafeteria and helped to clean up afterwards.

Tomorrow we will:  

All be going back to Lucy McCormick for another day of working in the Food Program.

Field Trip to Chinatown on Friday October 18th. 2013

We had a very good time on our field trip to Chinatown.

WE went on the trip with another ISP class at Maplewood, Ms. Scott's High Adaptive Skills Class.

WE left school at 9:15 and took the 86 A bus to Kennedy Station from there we took the subway to Spadina Stationed to the Spadina Streetcar. 

We we got there we bought 16 T Shirts which we be tie dying in class to sell and raise money for our lunch program.Then we went for lunch at Village by the Grange..

We all had a great time!!!

Next Week will be going to Lucy McCormick to participate in fantastic co-op work experience.We hopefully we be able to post lot of details in the days to come.

Thursday Oct.17^th./13

The Weather Today was :

In Class Today

Period 1: Spencer, Julian, Taylor, Megan and Jessica were practicing for the Cross Country Meet @ Morningside Park on Tuesday Oct. 22^nd. Markeisha and Curtis stayed in class to help with the meal prep for our Thanksgiving Feast. Markeisha set the table for 27 (!) and Curtis peeled potatoes and made Jello.

Period 2: We all finished up with the meal prep and then sat down for a mighty feast ! We were joined by Ms. Appleton’s and Mr. Sullivan’s class. We had a surprise guest as well. One of Mr. Wilkens former students, Brian, came for the meal.

Period 3: In Baking  Markeisha,  Curtis and Taylor sold Alpine Bread. The rest of the class portioned out Pumpkin Spice Cookies.

Period 4: We finished cleaning up from Lunch, filled in the Daily Report and then had time for a good sit.

Tomorrow we will: We will be going to

Chinatown ! Make sure to dress for the weather, though it looks like it will be a nice day !!!

Wednesday Oct.16^th./13

The Weather Today was :

Cloudy, Rainy and a little Sunny !  High20 Low 10, P.O.P. 100%

In Class Today

Period 1: We walked to No Frills to buy groceries for tomorrow’s Thanksgiving Feast. We already had a turkey so we did not have to buy a lot of stuff.

Period 2: We did our usual Current Events Activity. WE also did some prep for tomorrow’s meal. Megan and Taylor cut up celery and onion for the stuffing while Spencer cut up the bread.

Period 3: In Baking Jessica, Markeisha and Julian sold Chocolate Chip Cookies. Curtis, Spencer, Megan and Taylor stayed in the Bake Shop. Megan and Taylor made Oatmeal Cookies while Spencer sifted flour. Curtis was rolling out dough for Pumpkin Spice Cookies.

Period 4: We did our classroom jobs, filled in our Daily Report and had enough time for a “skillful” sit.

Tomorrow we will:   Be eating our Thanksgiving Feast ! Jessica,Megan,Spencer,Taylor and Julian will be practicing for the Cross Country Meet.

The Weather Today was :

In Class Today

Period 1: Megan and Curtis went to their Co-op placement at Shoppers Drug Mart. They stocked shelves and put drinks in the cooler. The rest of us went to the Art Room where we worked on our Ceramic Pumpkin’s.

Period 2: We did our usual Drama Activities. First we played Musical Chairs. Julian, Markeisha and Taylor were all winners !  In fact everyone was a winner so we all got have a Butter Tart that Taylor had brought in to class. Then we had the Circle Dance and the Guess the Animal Game.

Period 3: It was a very exciting time. The school was put on Hold and Secure !!! Megan and Jessica were out selling French Bread and got to be secure in Ms. Seccaracia’s room. Meanwhile, back in the Bake Shop Curtis and Taylor mixed  Spice Cookies  while Markeisha and Spencer garnished the cookies.

Period 4: We did our classroom jobs, filled in the Daily Report and had a short sit.

Tomorrow we will: Be walking to No Frills to but stuff for our (late) Thanksgiving Feast on Thursday…….Also, the Grad Photo proofs went home today. Any orders for prints ect. are due by 
Thursday Oct. 18 !  

Daily Report for October 4th. 2013

Todays Date: Friday Oct.4th. /13

The Weather Today was :

In Class Today

We were at the Markham Fair All Day ! We saw some animals like cows, pigs,  roosters, sheep, bunnies and even ann elephant ! We ate the lunch we made yesterday, the Potato Salad was very good, except for Spencer who gave it a 5.1 out of 10. The brownies were also very good, we all agreed.

On Monday we will: Be going to Camp Kearney !!! (Except for Markeisha and Arqum, who will be joining Ms. Westlake’s with Ms. Benyarko ) We will not be posting any new updates till we get back from camp on Thursday…..

Daily Reports for Week of Sept. 30th.. to Oct. 4th. 2013

Today's Date: Monday Sept.30^th. ./13

The Weather Today was :

Warm, Variable cloudiness, High 20, Low 14 P.O.P.: 30%

In Class Today

Period 1: We went to the YMCA on the TTC. However, when we got there, we found out that the TDSB had not paid for our membership ! So we could not use the YMCA facilities.

Period 2:We walked to Walmart where we picked up some items for the classroom such as a sink stopper, some Jello for Curtis and some labels for our Curry Powder fund raising jars.

Then we ate at the Food Court and came back to school on the TTC.

Period 3:

We were not expected to get to Baking today as we were supposed to be at the Y. Mr. Stevenson, always the professional, was able to put us to work anyway. We made pie dough for the pies that are going to be thrown in Staff faces on Wednesday

during the Terry Fox Follow Up Assembly.

Period 4:

We did our classroom jobs, filled in the Daily Report then had time for a short sitting.

Tomorrow we will:  Go to the Art Room to work on our Ceramic projects. Then we will have Drama and hopefully have some time to work on upgrading our Class Web Site.

Today's Date: Tuesday Oct.1st. /13

The Weather Today was :

In Class Today

Period 1: We went to the Art Room where we glazed our Ceramic Candleholders. Curtis and Megan were  at co-op so we glazed their pieces for them. Mr. Wilkens put them in the kiln so they will be ready tomorrow !

Period 2: We did our Drama activity as usual, though today Ms. Benyarko added a new piece, we had to guess the sport being acted out. It was great fun. At the end of the period we had some free time.

Period 3: In baking Mr. Stevenson was away so we had a Supply teacher. We made Chocolate Chip Cookies and Oatmeal Raisin Cookies.

Period 4: We did our classroom jobs, posted our daily report then had a meditation sitting.

Tomorrow we will:  We will be going to No Frills to shop for our lunch program. Since we are going to the Markham Fair on Friday we will be making our lunches to bring to the fair.

The Weather Today was :

In Class Today

Period 1: We walked to No Frills where we bought groceries for making a picnic lunch for Friday’s Markham Fair Trip. We will be making Egg Salad and Tuna fish Sandwich’s as well as Potato Salad.

Period 2: We went to the Terry Fox Follow up Assembly.

It was great fun. Teachers and E.A.’s got their head’s shaved, their legs waxed and  whole bunch of teachers and support staff had pie’s thrown in their faces !!! Mr. Wilkens got a haircut and shave….

Period 3: In baking we peeled some Apple’s , and learned about how to make Date Squares and even had a mini science lesson about the Water Cycle.

Period 4: We did our classroom jobs, filled in the Daily Report and  had enough time for a skillful sit.

Tomorrow we will:  Have to make do without Mr. W ! He has to stay at home and take care of his daughter. ( Though he will be at school for Parent’s Night. We will be making our Picnic lunch and hopefully have time to finish our Current Event activity. WE ALL NEED TO BRING A LUNCH !!

In Class Today

Period 1:Mr  McGregor (sp?) was our teacher today. It was great to have him as our supply teacher because he knows so much about food prep. That is mostly what we did, We made our lunches for tomorrow's field trip to the Markham Fair. First we made Egg Salad and Tuna Fillings and we also prepped Potato Salad. Later in the period most of us went to the Terry Fox Carnival in the gym. 

Period 2: We finished off our lunch prep and even had time to complete our Current Event activity from yesterday.

Period 3:Some of us went around the school selling  Chocolate Chip Cookies and Oatmeal Raisin Cookies. Those of us who stayed in the shop were ableto portion out more cookies.

Period 4: We did our classroom jobs,  then had a meditation sitting. Since Mr. Wilkens was away one of his students from last year, Sean, helped out by leading the Meditation sitting.

Tomorrow we will: We will be going to the Markham Fair !! Since the forecast is calling for rain we all have to make sure and wear appropriate clothing.
