Daily Report for Tuesday January 31st 2017

Weather for Today: Snowy and Cold…..

HIGH : -2°C                          LOW : -7°C                    P.O.P. : 100%

Period A: Fahim and Matthew went to the last day of their Co-op placement at The Scarborough Boys and Girls Club. They cleaned windows and pictures. The rest of us began with our Mindfulness Minutes . We then did our Weekend Journals.

Period B: We presented our Journals to the class. We finished watching the movie we started yesterday. We then made some Thank You cards for Ms. Jackson, our Co-op job coach. 

Period C: We met Mr. Watson in S-9 to help do the dishes and clean up from the Maplewood Mindfulness Community. We then went to S-18 where put the finishing touches on our Coat Rack projects. We cleaned up the classroom.

Period D: We had a shortened Drama activity where we played two games of Musical Chairs. Rebeca won the first game while Mark triumphed in the second. We filled in the Daily Report. We had our Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Monday January 30th 2017

Weather for Today: Sunny and COLD !

Period A/B: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes . As it was a short day schedule, we were able to watch a movie. The movie was called Wise Kids. It was a good film. We were not able to finish watching it but we will later this week.

Period C: We met Mr. Watson in S-18. We continued work on our Coat Racks. Today we applied stain to the projects.

Period D: We filled in the Daily Report. We had our Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Friday January 27th 2017

                   

Weather for Today: Sunny and Cold….

Period A: Nerissa went to her co-op placement at Old Navy. She folded  some T Shirts and hung up some sweaters and tights. The rest of us began with our Mindfulness Minutes . We then did a money math activity using the plastic money and the Promethean Board.

Period B: We went to the Computer Lab where we worked on various educational programs.

Period C: We met Mr. Watson in S-18. We continued work on our wooden Coat Racks.

Period D: We went for a Community Walk.We filled in the Daily Report. We had our Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Note to Parents: Short Day Staff Meeting Schedule on Monday. Bus p/u at 12:30.

Daily Report for Thursday January 26th 2017

Weather for Today: Overcast and not too cold…

HIGH : 3°C                            LOW : 2°C            P.O.P. : 100%

Period A & B: Emily went to her co-op placement at Old Navy. She folded clothes and stocked shelves. The rest of us went to the ME Kitchen to prepare our lunch. Mark and Joel set the table in the Partnership Room. Rebeca cut up some tomatoes and cucumbers. Matthew and Fahim chopped the parsley for the Tabbouleh. We also did a number of other tasks. We had invited Ms. McLaren’s class to join us for lunch so there was more than the usual amount of work to do.

Period C: We met Mr. Watson in the ME Kitchen where we all helped to do the rather massive cleanup necessitated by such a big meal. We then went back to the Partnership Room where we were joined once again by Ms. McLarens class to eat our dessert of Brownies and Ice Cream. We then went back to S-18 where we continued work on our Coat Rack project.

Period D: We filled in the Daily Report. We had our Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Wednesday January 25th 2017

Weather for Today: Partly cloudy and not too cold…

HIGH : 4°C                            LOW : 1°C            P.O.P. : 40%

 We began with our Mindfulness Minutes . We then got prepared to leave on our Field Trip to Allen Gardens. We took the Scarborough 86 bus to Kennedy Station. We then got on the Bloor Danforth Subway line. We got off at Sherbourne Station and from there we took the Sherbourne 75 Bus to Carleton and then walked to Allen Gardens.

The Gardens were a real treat for the senses. We had a great time walking around the greenhouses and taking pictures of the beautiful plants and flowers.

When we left the conservatory we walked to the Loblaw’s to buy some more groceries for tomorrows lunch. We then walked to College Park to eat lunch in the Food Court. We then took the TTC back to school.

When we got back we filled in the Daily Report and had a mindfulness sitting.

Note to Parents: Lunch Program tomorrow. Students need not bring a lunch.

Daily Report for Tuesday January 24th 2017

Weather for Today: Overcast and a little colder…

HIGH : 1°C                            LOW : -1°C                    P.O.P. : 60%

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes . Matthew and Fahim went to their co-op placement at The Boys and Girls Club. They helped to clean the computers and wash some windows. The rest of us went for our weekly shopping trip to No Frills where we bought the groceries for Thursdays lunch. We will be having Falafel, Tabbouleh and Hummus.

Period B: We went to the ME Kitchen to put away the groceries. We then went back to class where we did our Weekend Journal activity. 

Period C: We met Mr. Watson in S-7 to do the dishes from the Maplewood Mindfulness Community Lunch. We then went to S-18 where we continued work on our Coat Rack projects.

Period D: We went for a Community Walk.We filled in the Daily Report. We had our Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Note to Parents: Field Trip to Allen Gardens tomorrow. Students need a bagged lunch or money to purchase a lunch.

Daily Report for Monday January 23rd 2017

Weather for Today: Overcast and Somewhat warm ?

HIGH : 5°C                            LOW : 1°C                    P.O.P. : 30%

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes . We then went for our weekly trip to the YMCA. We took the Scarborough 86 bus to Kennedy Station. We then took the LRT to McCowan station. When we got to the Y we changed into our gym clothes and went upstairs where we walked for 2 miles ( 3.28 K ). We then went downstairs where we played some badminton. The class is really improving ! We then got changed back into our street clothes and went for lunch at the Food Court at Scarborough Town Centre. After lunch we went to the Dollar store to buy some Valentine’s Day decorations. We then took the TTC back to school.

When we got back to school we filled in the Daily Report. We had our Mindfulness Meditation sitting.
