Daily Report for Wednesday January 30th 2019

Weather for Today: Partly Cloudy and Very COLD….

Period A : Amena and Vivian did some cleaning in the classroom/kitchen. The rest of us went to the Bake Shop classroom and watched a movie.

Period B : We met in the CPC-ML. We had our Mindfulness Minutes. We then prepped for our special lunch event. Fahim washed the lettuce and made the lemonade. Nerushan, Matthew and Mark, under Frankie’s supervision set up the Partnership Room for our special lunch. Amena, Vivian and Rebeca prepped the salad garnish.

Period C:  We spent most of the period cleaning up the kitchen and the Partnership Room.

Period D: We were unable to go for a Community Walk, because of the “extreme cold” outside. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Period A : Today was a Short Staff Meeting Day schedule. In food school today we were very busy. Fahim, Matthew, Brandon, Mark and Nerushan prepped for Chocolate Chip Cookies. The girlz, minus Rebeca who was absent, prepped some Lemon Cookie Cake Bars.

Period B : We had our Mindfulness Minutes. We did our Weekend Journal Activity.

Period C: We met in the CPC-ML to continue work on our reorganization task. Almost Done ~!!!

Period D: We filled in the Daily Report. 

Daily Report for Friday January 25th 2019

Weather for Today: Partly and Coldish…

Today we went to a special event at Birchmount Park Collegiate. It was a dance for all the ISP/ DD classes in Scarborough. We took the 905 Express Bus to Kennedy Station. We then got the 12C Eastbound Bus which took us to Birchmount Collegiate. There were many other students at the dance we got meet our old friends and even some former teachers and staff. We had a very good time. 

At 1:00 o’clock we headed back to school on the TTC. When we got back to school we had some Hot Chocolate to warm ourselves up as it was very cold on the way back to school. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a short  Mindfulness Mediation sitting.

Note to Parents: Monday is a Short Staff Meeting Day. Bus p/u at 12:30 PM.

Daily Report for Thursday January 24th, 2019

Weather for Today: Partially Cloudy and Coldish…

Period A : We watched a video for the first 30 minutes. Then we went to the library for a talk by a police officer about Social Media, cyberbullying and other dangers that we need to know about. It was a very interesting and informative session.

Period B : We continued with the police information session. At 11:10 we came back to class where we had our Mindfulness Minutes. By the time we had finished our sit it was time to go to lunch.

Period C: We went the CPC-ML where we almost finished our reorganization task. We should be able to finish it off on Monday as tomorrow we will be going to Birchmount Collegiate for the TDSB DD spring dance.

Period D: We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Wednesday January 23rd 2019

Weather for Today: Overcast Snow, Freezing Rain and Coldish…

Period A : Daidrean, Frankie and Rebeca were away today. In food school today we made Oatmeal Cookies and Orange Cranberry Cookies. Fahim, Brandon , Matthew and Amena made orange zest for the cookies. Vivian and Amena measured out the dry ingredients and mixed the cookies.

Period B : We had our Mindfulness Minutes. Because we had so many absent students we were quite challenged to prepare our lunch of Mexican Food. As it was, we ended up eating a little late. Mark and Nerushan set the table, with mark doing most of the work. Fahim grated some cheese, as well as helping to prep the apples for the Apple Pie. Amena cut the onions and cooked the Mexi Rice. Vivian and Matthew cut up peppers and celery, with Matthew cutting up some onion as well. Vivian browned the ground beast and made the meat filling for the tacos and burritos. Vivian and Amena did a fantastic job putting together the Tacos and Burritos.

Period C: Matthew and Brandon were not able to go to their Co-op placement as they were doing inventory at Shoppers Drug Mart. That was a good thing as we had a lot of cleaning to do. Once we all got the kitchen clean we sat down for a slice of Apple Pie with Ice Cream.

Period D: We filled in the Daily Report. We did a little practice of our Oh Canada rendition. We had a Mindfulness

Period A : We cut the vegetables for the smoothie for slimming. Matthew, Fahim, Brandon and Vivian helped in the cutting of the vegetables. Amena, Mark, Frankie and Daidrean helped in cutting the French Fries.

Period B : Mr. Wilkens was away for the day so we had Ms. Myers Taylor as our Occasional Teacher. We had our Mindfulness Minutes. We wrote on our Weekend Journal. We went to the Computer Lab to type and forward our journals to Mr. Wilkens.  

Period C: We did the Money Math on the Promethean Board. We looked at classroom  videos.

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Friday January 18th 2019

Period A : Due to a lack of applicable tasks. We spent the period watching videos.

Period B : We had our Mindfulness Minutes. We began to investigate how to create a calendar using a Word Template and pictures from Mr. Wilkens Goggle Drive that contains photos from this and past years school activities. In the last portion of the period we went to the computer lab where we worked on individual education

Period C: We returned to the CPC-ML to finish off the job of organizing the various drawers and cupboards. While Mr. Wilkens was finishing off the organizational job we made some Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Period D: We ate the delicious cookies we had made. We filled in the Daily Report. We did Mindfulness Meditation Body Scan.

Period A : Vivian, Amena and Rebeca were late for class so they were required to clean out the walk-in refrigerator. Matthew and Daidrean prepped some pig meat for tomorrow’s lunch. Fahim, Mark, Brandon and Frankie helped to prepare and mix the ingredients for carrot roll cake.

Period B : We had our Mindfulness Minutes. We began to clean and organize our classroom. We went to the CPC-ML to begin the extremely onerous job of organizing the kitchen.

Period C: We went back to the CPC-ML to continue the organization task. Hopefully, we will be able to finish the job tomorrow!

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We had some of our Homemade Hot Chocolate. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Wednesday, January 16^th 2019  

Weather for Today: Sunny and Cold…

Period A : Daidrean went to his Co-op placement at Shoppers Drug Mart where he spent his time stocking shelves with merchandise. The rest of us went to Food School, where there was not a lot of work to do. We ended up watching a movie for the entire period. The movie we watched was called Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

Period B : We met in the CPC-ML where we began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then prepared our weekly Lunch Program lunch. Brandon and Matthew prepped the French fries from fresh Russet potatoes. Fahim used the meat grinder to grind the beef for the hamburger patties. Rebeca and Vivian did three jobs! They put the hamburg and hot dog buns on baking sheets for grilling. The washed and dried and portioned the lettuce for the burgers. They also weighed out and formed the hamburger patties. Mark and Nerushan set the table. Amena and Frankie peeled and grated the carrots for the Cole Slaw.

Period C: We cleaned up the kitchen and did the dishes’. Because we ate a little late and the kitchen was quite the mess, it took us most of the period to get the job done.

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Period A : Matthew And Brandon wrap up some Chocolate Chip Cookies. Frankie and Amena prepped the Jell-O for today’s dessert Vivian and Rebeca portioned out some sausage’s for freezing.  

Period B : We had our Mindfulness Minutes. We use the IWB to do a food guide sorting activity. We then made the menu and the shopping list for tomorrows lunch.

Period C: We went to Food Basics to buy the ingredients for tomorrow’s lunch.  

Period D: Ms. Kim joined us to help us improve our rendition of Canada’s National Anthem.

Daily Report for Monday January 14th 2019

Weather for Today: Sunny and Cold…

Period A : We went to the Food School. Amena, Frankie and Rebeca helped to make the banana loaf. They prepared and mixed all the ingredients. They put it in a pan to bake. Matthew and Vivian made some Cinamon Muffins. Vivian prepared and mixed all the ingredients. Matthew poured the mixture the muffin tins.

Period B :  Mr. Wilkens was away for the morning and we had Mr. Khan as our on-call teacher. We had our Mindfulness Minutes. We did our Weekend Journal activity. We made some point form notes about what we had done over the weekend. We then went to Room 204 and used Microsoft Word to type up our journals.

Period C: We went outside into the neighbourhood to finish off our delivery of this month’s Bluff’s Monitor Community Newspaper.

Period D: We had some Hot Chocolate and did our classroom jobs. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Period A : In Food School today some us were able to do some work while the rest of us watched a video. Rebeca, Daidrean, Vivian, Nerushan, Mark and Fahim made some meatballs for Monday’s lunch. The rest of the class watched a video about food in Venice and Dublin. Amena thought the video was boring.

Period B : We had our Mindfulness Minutes. We then went to the Computer Lab in Room 204 where we worked on individual educational programs.

Weather for Today: Sunny. Windy and Cold…

Period A : In food school today Amena and Frankie helped to make some sausage. Matthew and Mark helped to clean up in the kitchen. The rest of us watched a movie about the consequences of eating out as opposed to eating healthy home cooked meals.

Period B : We went to the CPC-ML where we watched Mr. Wilkens make some Cinnamon Rolls. We then went to our classroom where we had our Mindfulness Minutes. We then watched some videos. We did a Money Math activity on the IWB.

Period C: We went to the library where we participated in a presentation by MADD. We learned about the dangers of impaired driving with an emphasis on drug ( Marijuana) impaired driving.

Period A : We went to food school. Daidrean went his co-op placement at Shoppers Drug Mart. He restocked the products. Matthew, Brandon and Fahim made breakfast wraps. Amena, Frankie, Rebeca and Vivian made some French Fries for today's lunch.

Period B : We had our Mindfulness Minutes in the Community Preparation Cuisine Meeting Place ( CPC-ML). We then began the lunch prep for the Birthday Feast for Rebeca and Fahim. Fahim, Matthew, and Brandon peeled the taters. Amena prepped the lettuce. Vivian, Daidrean and Rebeca did prepped the salad garnish. Mark, because Nerushan was absent, set the table all by himself! And he did an amazing job !

Period C: Brandon and Matthew went their co-op placement at Shoppers Drug mart where they also re-stocked shelves with merchandise. We were a little late eating our entrée of Sheppard’s Pie so it took a bit longer to do the cleanup. When we had finished the clean up we celebrated Rebeca and Fahim’s birthday with a beautiful birthday cake.

Period A : We went to food school. Mathew,  Mark and Brandon cut the onion rings. Amena, Rebeca and Vivian made the batter. Daidrean, Frankie and Fahim they wash the potatoes cut them into fries.

Period B : We had our Mindfulness Minutes. We went to shopping to the No Frills for tomorrow’s birthday lunch for Rebeca and Fahim.

Period C: We went to deliver the community newspaper.

Period A : In Food School today we were quite busy. Fahim, Vivian, Rebeca and Amena helped to make some Chocolate Pudding. Matthew and Daidrean packaged some Chocolate Chip Cookies. Amena also helped to prep some Mac and Cheese. We then helped to garnish the pudding with Whip Cream and portion out some Chocolate milk.

Period B : We had our Mindfulness Minutes. We then did our journal activity. We wrote about what we had done over the holidays in point form.

We  then went to the Computer Lab our using our journal.

Period C: We did the menu for Rebeca and Fahim’s birthday lunch. And we did the shopping list.   

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.
