Daily Report for Thursday November 29th 2018



Weather for Today: Overcast and Cool…

Period A : Ms. Smith was away today and we had Mr. Turnbull as our Occasional teacher. We watched a video a video about a cooking contest.

Period B : We had our Mindfulness Minutes. We completed yesterday’s Daily Report. We used the IWB to get some Winter Holiday coloring pages.


Period C:We did some Holiday coloring pages. We then met Ms. Dumas, the teacher who will be covering for Mr. Wilkens , who will be away tomorrow. We practiced our Holiday Assembly songs.


Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Wednesday November 28th 2018



Weather for Today: Sunny and Coolish…

Period A : We cut out for Vegetable for stir fry Frances and Rebeca. Amena cut the celery Brandon Matthew and Vivian cleaned the snow peas. Amena also cut the carrots. Vivian also cut the Broccoli for the stir fry.  

Period B: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. Fahim cut the parsnips. Mark and Daidrean set the table. Matthew prepared the noodles and Amena sliced the roasted the chicken. Rebeca prepared the Chocolate and Vanilla Pudding. Vivian cut the carrots.


Period C: We cleaned up the kitchen and we had Chocolate and Vanilla Pudding for Dessert . We also practiced our song for Holiday Assembly.


Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled the Daily Report for Monday and Tuesday. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Tuesday November 27th 2018



Weather for Today: Partly Cloudy, Light Snow and Coldish…

We went for a trip to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra at Roy Thompson Hall. We had to leave late because Nerushan was picked up late by his bus. As a result we did not get to see that much of the TSO rehearsal.
We did get to go to the Food Court at Simcoe Place where we ate lunch.  We then walked to the Hudson’s Bay Company to see the Christmas windows. We crossed over to the  Eaton Centre via the walkway. We walked around the centre as while and then took the TTC back to school.

We had some Hot Chocolate and practiced our Assembly songs.

Period A : It was a short staff meeting day. Ms. Smith was away so we had a Supply Teacher. We used the laptop computers to work on individual educational programs.

Period B & C : Mr. Wilkens was away. We had Ms. Zarudny as our  Occasional teacher. We had our Mindfulness Minutes. We then worked on our Weekend Journals. We wrote out some point form notes on our weekend activities. We then went to the Computer Lab where we wrote up the journals on the computers using Microsoft Word.



Period D: We practiced our songs for the Holiday Assembly. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Period A : We watched a movie called The Beast.

Period B : We had our Mindfulness Minutes. We went to the Computer Lab and worked on individual educational programs.


Period C: We used the IWB to have a Yoga session. After the yoga we did a Body Scan Mindfulness exercise.


Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Thursday November 22nd. 2018



Weather for Today: Sunny and Cold…

Period A : Ms. Smith was away today and we had Mr. Raied as our supply teacher. As a consequence, we were unable to do any kitchen work. We used the laptop computers from the Laptop Cart to work on individual educational programs.

Period B : We had our Mindfulness Minutes. Mr. Wilkens then gave us a lecture about the meaning of gratitude. We then practiced our songs for the Holiday Assembly. We also watched the practice of the If I Had a Million Dollar song and had some advice for Daidrean and Fahim.


Period C: We watched some videos about the stories of the birth of Jesus and Christ and Krishna. Mr. Wilkens then told us about religious archetypes.


Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Period A : Brandon, Mark , Fahim and Matthew grated cheese. Nerushan, Rebeca and Daidrean did some cleaning. Amena and Vivian helped to clean the Food School classroom.

Period B : We met in the ME Kitchen.We began with our Mindfulness Minutes.  Amena and Rebeca cut up the sweet peppers. Daidrean cut up the onions. Brandon and Matthew cut up celery. Fahim and Vivian cut up carrots. Mark and Nerushan set the table. Rebeca made the Chocolate Icing. Amena cooked the  Fried Rice and the Beef Stir Fry.


Period C: We cleaned up the kitchen and did the dishes.

Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Tuesday November 20th 2018



Weather for Today: Sunny and Cold….

Period A : Today in Food School we watched a video on baking.

Period B : We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We made a menu for tomorrow’s lunch and then made a shopping list of what we will need to make our lunch. We then went to the Computer Lab and worked on our December Holidays projects.


Period C: We went to No Frills to buy the groceries for tomorrow’s lunch. We will be having Beef Stir Fry, Vegetable Fried Rice, fried noodles and Spring Rolls. When we got back from No Frills we went to the ME Kitchen to put away the groceries.


Period D: We went to S-5 to watch the Free Style Singing Club practice the song they have been working so hard at the last few weeks. Here is Video of the Singing Club Practice.

Period A : Rebeca and Vivian made some cookies. The rest of us, with the exception of Fahim, peeled potatoes’ for mashed potatoes.

Period B : We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then worked on our Weekend Journals. We wrote out some point form notes on our weekend activities. We then went to the Computer Lab where we wrote up the journals on the computers using Microsoft Word.



Period C: We worked on our Ceramic Platter’s.

Daily Report for Thursday November 15th   2018

Weather for Today:

Period A : Vivian and Rebeca made some Apple Tarts. Daidrean, and Amena grated cheese. The rest of the class watched a Baking show.

We went on our field trip to Chinatown and Kensington Market. We bought some the ingredient’s we will need to make next week’s Vietnamese lunch.

When we got back to school we had some Hot Chocolate and then filled in the Daily Report. We had a short Mindfulness sitting.


Note to Parents : Tomorrow is a PA day, no school for the students.

Daily Report for Wednesday November 14th 2018 Weather for Today: Overcast and Cold… High: -2°C LOW : -7°C P.O.P. : 20 % Period A : In Food school today we all helped to make Apricot Fruit Cake. Period B : Mr. Wilkens brought his daughter Willa, to work today and she helped out the entire day. We met in the Me Kitchen and started out with a short sit. We then began to prep our lunch. Rebeca and Amena cut up the sweet peppers. Nerushan and Mark set the table. Fahim and Matthew grated the Mozzarella cheese. Brandon sliced the Halal Salami. Frankie prepped the Romaine lettuce for the Caesar Salad. Daidrean cut up the onions. Then we all made our own personal pizza. Period C: We were joined by Alliyah, Ms. Ichelson’s daughter, to work with us in the afternoon. We met in the kitchen and we all helped to clean the kitchen and do the dishes. We then celebrated Daidrean and Frankie’s birthday with Chocolate Cake and ice Cream. Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Period A : We had Ms. Gallegar as our supply teacher for Ms. Smith. We did Word Search and Art Work Some students were on the laptop.

Period B : We went shopping trip to No Frills for our lunch menu.


Period C: We went to S-7 to wash the dishes and we went to the Computer Room We had Mr. Hussain as our supply teacher for the first half of the period. We had Mr. Lou as our supply teacher for the second half. We did Money Math on the Smartboard.  

Period D: We had Mr. Kastris as our supply teacher. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Friday November 9th 2018

Weather for Today: Rainy and Cold….

Period A : Rebeca and Amena grated the cheese for the pizza. The boyz made some Oatmeal Blueberry Bars. When we had finished our we watched episode of “Just Desserts” on You Tube.

Period B : We went to the cafeteria for the Remembrance Day Assembly. It was moving ceremonies that reminded us of our duty to honour and remember those who served their country as soldiers. After the assembly was over we all went outside ( in the rain!) to “plant” the poppies we had made earlier this week.

Period C: We used the IWB to have a Yoga session.

Weather for Today: Partly Cloudy and Coldish…

Today was the day we went on a field trip to the BAPS Mandir. We took a school bus to Hwy. 427 and Finch where the Mandir is located. Mr. Makan met us at the bus and took us on a tour of the Mandir.

After our tour of the Mandir and the Mandir Museum, we went to eat our lunch. Mr. Wilkens bought us all a delicious vegetarian lunch. When we had finished our lunch we got back on the bus and came back to school.


When we got back to school we had some Hot Chocolate and then filled in the Daily Report. We finished off the day with a short sit.

Daily Report for Wednesday November 7th 2018



Weather for Today: Overcast, Rainy and Coolish…..

Period A : Mr. Makan was away today helping to set up the Diwali Celebration at the BAPS Mandir we will be visiting tomorrow. We had Ms. Naheed as our EA. Amena, Frankie, Vivian and Daidrean helped to make Vegetarian Wraps for a catering order for the snack program at William G Miller P.S. Fahim, Mark and Brandon peeled some carrots. Nerushan sat out the class as he had a sore neck.

Period B : We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We did our Current Events activity. We each choose an article from the Toronto Star Metro newspaper and used the article to fill in a worksheet. When we had finished the worksheet we presented our work to the class.


Period C: We all got to eat some pizza that Mr. Wilkens brought us, it was leftover from an OSSTF lunch and learn meeting. Mr. Wilkens then used the IWB to describe an assignment we will be doing over the next couple weeks. We are each researching a different Winter Holiday so we can make a display on the bulletin board  outside our class.


Period D: We went for a Community Walk. We filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Tuesday, November 6th 2018



Weather for Today: Sunny and Warm….

Period A : Matthew, Brandon, Fahim and Nerushan helped to cut up vegetables to garnish the Chicken Wings that were on todays lunch menu. Daidrean, Amena, Frankie and Vivian went out in the foyer and made poppies for Fridays Remembrance Day ceremony. When they were done they watched a video about making cakes. The boys went out in the foyer to make their poppies.

Period B : We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then watched some videos that told us the story of Diwali. We also did some coloring pages with a Diwali theme.


Period C: We went out to deliver the rest of the Bluffs Monitor Community newspaper.

Period D: We had some Hot Chocolate and some Tiramisu. We filled in the Daily Report. We practiced our songs for the Holiday Assembly. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting.


Note to Parents: Students should bring a lunch tomorrow as we will be using Lunch Fund money to pay for lunch on Thursday’s field trip to the BAPS Mandir.

Daily Report for Friday November 2nd 2018

Weather for Today: Overcast, Rainy and Coolish…

We began the day with our Mindfulness  Minutes. Amena and Frankie went to their final Co-op placement at Old Navy. They worked hard at hanging up and folding different types of Christmas inspired fashion. The rest of us, actually just Fahim, Mark, Matthew, Rebeca and Brandon, went on a field trip to  Harbourfront Centre. We took the 905 Express bus to Kennedy station where we got on the Line 2 subway westbound. We transferred to the Line 1 Subway to Union Station and got on the 510 Spadina Dedicated Streetcar.
We then explored Harbourfront . We saw the glass and ceramics studios. We checked out the Happy Place art installation but the tickets to get into the facility were $34.00, so we did not go in. We ate lunch in one of the buildings then checked out the boats at the waterfront.
We then took the “long way home” by getting on the streetcar going westbound to Spadina Station.

When we got back to school we filled in the Daily Report. We had a Mindfulness Meditation sitting. We also practiced our What’s Up song.

Daily Report for Thursday November 1st 2018



Weather for Today: Overcast, Rainy and Coolish…

Period A : Fahim and Matthew went to their Co-op placement at Eastview P.S. They worked in the school snack program by cleaning out the bins used to deliver food to the classrooms. The rest of us worked in Food School.We all helped to make Chocolate Chip cookies.

Period B : We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then went to the ME Kitchen to prepare our lunch. Mark and Nerushan set the table. Amena grated the Parmesan Cheese. Daidrean cut up the French loaf for Garlic Bread. Rebeca and Amena buttered the bread with garlic butter that Amena had prepared. Brandon and Vivian helped with the clean-up.


Period C: Rebeca went to her Level 2 Co-op placement where she worked in the school library. We met in the ME Kitchen where we all helped to clean up. We then had our dessert of Tiramisu. We then went for a Community Walk. We then went back to class where we filled in the Daily Report.

Period D: We went to the Art Room to begin work on our latest Ceramic project. We will be making platters much like the ones we made for the Markham Fair, only this time we will be taking our time to ensure a good result.


Note to Parents: Field  Trip to Harbourfront tomorrow. Ensure students are dressed appropriately for the weather.
