In School Today…

Well the big day finally arrived.. we performed in the Holiday Assembly and it was great fun…

At the end of the Assembly it was all systems go for the Black Light Show !!!  Here is a video of our performance…

After the Assembly we had just enough time to back to class and pick up our Gingerbread House’s.

 Wednesday December 18^th. 2013

The Weather Today was:  

Cloudy and less cold, High: 0  Low: -1 P.O.P.: 20%

In Class Today

Period 1: PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE !!! We worked all period in the cafeteria getting ready for tomorrow’s assembly.

Period 2:  PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE !!! Again!

Despite our best laid plans, the practice ran on into period B, when we were supposed to be doing our Gingerbread. Ah well, as they say…”that’s Show Business !!!”

Period 3: Because of the Snafu in the morning we had to skip our gym class in order to make our Gingerbread House’s. Here are some pictures of us making our magnificent creations…

Period 4: We finished off our House’s then did a little clean up. We did our classroom jobs then had Ms. Scott’s class come over so we could look at a video of our final practice. Because it took so long for Ms. Scott’s class to get here, we were unable to do a sitting. Next year we will do better at Mindfulness, at least that is the hope.

Note to Parents : Because of the Black Light Show we need the students to wear ALL BLACK tomorrow.

The Weather Today was:  

Cloudy and Cold, High: -5  Low:-7 P.O.P.: 20%

In Class Today

Period 1: We practiced the Black Light Show act again. It is starting to really come together.

Period 2:  We did our Drama Activity. We played Musical Chairs then did the Circle Dance activity. After drama we finished off our Current Event Worksheets.

Period 3: We started out with some free time, many of us played basketball. Then we had a floor hockey game with MS. Reid’s class.

Period 4: Once again we went to the cafeteria to practice the Black Light Show. When we had done that we came back to class where we filled in the daily report. We then had just enough time for a very short sit.

Tomorrow we will:  Practice, practice ,

practice ! We will also do our Gingerbread Houses’.

In Class Today

It was a short day today and we spent most of the day in the Cafeteria getting ready for Thursday’s assembly. We practiced the Black Light Show and ran through our rendition of The Little Drummer Boy. We managed to get a short sitting in before lunch period then after lunch we filled in the Daily Report.

Tomorrow we will:  Continue to practice for the assembly and get a start on our Gingerbread House’s.

The Weather Today was :

In Class Today

Period 1: We spent most of the period in the Cafeteria practicing for the Black Light Show for the Holiday Assembly. We also got in a little “Little Drummer Boy” practice…

Period 2: We went to the computer lab where we checked out the weather for the weekend then practiced our puzzle solving skills on Jigzone. When we got back to the classroom we worked on our Current Events activity sheets.

Period 3: In gym period we once again got to have a lot of fun on the Trampoline. At the end of the period we got some free time. Julian was not with us as he was out doing TTC training.

Period 4: Once again we spent the whole period in the Cafeteria practicing for the Assembly.

On Monday we will:  Spend most of our time practicing for the Assembly. We just might get to start on our Gingerbread house’s.

Note to Parents: Monday is a Short Staff Meeting/PLC day,

The Weather Today was:  

Very Cold !! and Sunny High:-7 Low: -8 P.O.P.: 30%

In Class Today

Period 1: We got ready for our fundraising sale of Ceramics, T-Shirts and Curry Powder. Then we went to the cafeteria to practice the Black Light Show Act we are participating in with Ms. Scott’s class. Here are some pictures of our practice…

Period 2:  We stayed in the Cafeteria to practice our main act for next Thursday’s Assembly, our rendition of The Little Drummer Boy. Here is a video of the practice, which for the first time was on stage…

Period 3: In gym, first we ran through an obstacle course, then we got to use the trampoline again. It was great fun. Here is some pictures of Megan , Markeisha and Julian using the trampoline…

Period 4: We did our classroom jobs, filled in the Daily Report and then had just enough time for a sitting.

Tomorrow we will: Be going to the Computer Lab and the Library. Hopefully we will also have lots of time to practice our acts for the  assembly.

Todays Date:

Wednesday December 11^th. 2013

The Weather Today was :

Sunny and Cold   High: -4 Low: -7    P.O.P.: 40%

Today we went on a field trip to CITY TV. We took the bus and subway to the Eaton Center then walked from the Queen St. station up to the Food Court at Yonge and Dundas. We had an early lunch then walked over to the TV station for our tour. We learned a lot about how things work at City TV. Spencer’s favorite part of the trip was the Wi-U game demo in the Eaton Center. Megan liked walking with Scottie who was also on the trip with Ms. Scott’s class. Julian liked all the computers in the TV station. Taylor liked the table in City TV. Jessica’s favorite part was taking the new type subway cars on the Yonge St. line. Markeisha really likes the TV camera’s that we saw. Curtis enjoyed the whole trip and can not really think of a favorite part.

Tomorrow we will: be getting ready for our sale of T shirts , Curry Powder and Ceramics. We will also be practicing for our acts in the Holiday Assembly.

The Weather Today was:

In Class Today

Period 1: We prepared our lunch. Today we made fettuccine with Alfredo Sauce with mushrooms and onions. We also made a Caesar Salad.

Period 2:  We finished our lunch prep then we ate our lunch early so we could set up for the Maplewood Mindfulness Community lunch. We also started practicing the song we will sing at the Holiday Assembly. We are going to sing a traditional Christmas Carol called Little Drummer Boy. Here is a video of one of our first practices…

Not bad for a start !!  

Period 3: In gym today we had a chance to try out the trampoline. It was a lot of fun !

Period 4: We started out by having a Birthday Cake for Jessica. Jessica turns 20 years old today. Happy Birthday

Jessica !!! We then did our classroom jobs and had a sit.

Tomorrow we will:  Be going on a field trip to City TV with Ms. Scott’s class.

Monday December 9^th. 2013

The Weather Today was:  

Overcast and Cold  High: 1 Low: -1 P.O.P.: 30%

Today we did our regular Monday Field Trip to the Y.M.C.A. at Scarborough Town Center. We started out by walking around the indoor track. After completing approx. 30 laps we went downstairs to work out on the Cardio equipment. After the Y, we went to the  food court at Scarborough Town Center where we ate our lunch. Spencer bought his lunch at the usual place for him, KFC. The rest of us brought our lunches. When we had finished eating we went to the Dollar Store to purchase candies to use when we make our Gingerbread Houses.

When we got back to school ( quite early as it turns out) we finished off our ceramic Christmas Tree ornaments. We will be bringing them home at the end of the week. Then we did our classroom jobs, filled in the daily report then had a sitting.

Tomorrow we will:  Be having our Lunch Program a little early as we are going to be saying good-bye to Brittney the co-op student who has been in our class for the last three months. We will also be celebrating Jessica’s 20^th Birthday.

In Class Today

Period 1: We went to the Computer lab. While we were there we checked out the Weather Network, which seemed to be having some problems, then we worked on puzzles @ Jigzone.

In the second half of the period we went to the library where Mr. Wilkens read us a story called “the Dead Composer”.

Period 2:  We did our Current Event activity worksheets.

Period 3: In gym today we had a workout session led by Mr. Ellis. Here is a video of some of what we did….

Period 4: Since we forgot to eat our dessert yesterday, we all sat down to enjoy some Strawberry/Cherry jello that Curtis made for us. Here is a picture of us enjoying our jello…

After that we did our classroom jobs then had time for sitting.  

On Monday we will:  Be going to the YMCA. We will also be going grocery shopping so we can have a special Farewell meal for Brittany, the co-op student who has been working with us.

Period 1: We prepared Sheppard’s Pie and Green Salad for our lunch. Here are some pictures of us prepping the meal…

We ate lunch early so we could have the practice of the Maplewood Drum Band. Here is a video of our practice…

Period 3: This being Thursday, we had our usual Power Walk. Mr. Ellis was at a Basketball Tournament, so Mr. Osbourne took the class on the walk. We really enjoyed the walk as it was so amazingly nice out !

Period 4: We reviewed some of our Drum Band videos. We then did our classroom jobs, filled in the daily report and then had a sit.

Tomorrow we will:  Be going to the Computer Lab and hopefully the library. We will also be working on our ceramic Christmas Ornaments.

In Class Today

Period 1: We walked to No Frills to buy groceries for tomorrow’s Lunch Program Lunch. We bought ground beef, potatoes, frozen vegetables and beef stock to make Sheppard’s Pie.

Period 2:  We decorated the new Christmas Tree that Mr. Wilkens bought at IKEA. Here are some pictures of us decorating the tree….

Period 3: In gym today  we did a lot of different things. First we played some basketball then we played a little indoor soccer. We finished off the period by working out in the Weight Room.

Period 4: We did our classroom jobs, filled in the Daily Report then had a short sitting.

The Weather Today was:  

Sunny with a few clouds, High: 4  Low: 0 P.O.P.: 20%

In Class Today

Period 1: We had a change of plan. Because Brittney is coming back next week we will be having her good bye lunch then. We helped Mr. Wilkens prepare a salad for the Mindfulness Community lunch as well as set the table for the lunch. We also helped preparing the gingerbread for our Gingerbread House’s.

Period 2:  We started making our tie dye t shirts that we are going to be selling next week at the Festive Lunch. Here is a picture of Arqum applying the dye to a T shirt….

Period 3: Since there were only three students in our gym class, Ms. Hargraft, who was substituting for Mr. Ellis who was at the Bocce Ball Tournament, took us for a nice long Power Walk. It was a very enjoyable walk.

Period 4: We did our classroom jobs, filled in the daily report and then had plenty of time for a good sitting.

Tomorrow we will:  Be going to No Frills to buy groceries for Thursdays lunch program. We will also continue to work on our T Shirts and the gingerbread for the House’s.

The Weather Today was:  

Overcast and Cool, High: 3 Low: -2 P.O.P.: 30%

We went to the Scarborough YMCA today. We started out by walking around the Track. After we did our walking we went to the pool for a swim. That is everyone except Arqum and Megan. Megan “forgot” her swim suit the second time in a row. One wonders if she really is forgetting her swim suit or maybe she just does not want to swim ! Arqum on the other hand claims to be unable to swim so that is why he never brings a swim suit.

After swimming at the Y, we went to Scarborough Town Centre for lunch. Spencer bought his lunch from KFC, the rest of the class brought their lunch. After lunch we went shopping at Freshco for the ingredients for a special going away lunch we will be having tomorrow for  Brittney, the co-op student that has been working in our class . When we got back to school we did our (new) classroom jobs, filled in the daily report then had a sitting.

Tomorrow:  Spencer, Taylor and Jessica will be going to the Special Olympics Bocce Ball Tournament in Mimico. Curtis, Megan and Julian will be going to co-op. The rest of us will be working on getting ready for next week’s Luncheon and Fund raising sale.

We went to the movies today! We went to Morningside Cinema to see The Hunger Games…

We all enjoyed the movie, though the ending was a little disappointing. Julian’s favourite part was the bad guys. Markeisha’s favourite part was the fighting. Jessica’s favourite part was the girl with the hair. Spencer’s favourite part was shooting the arrows. Taylor’s favourite part was the spaceship. Megan can’t remember her favourite part. Curtis does not know what his favourite part was.

On Monday we will : be going to the YMCA where we will be walking around the indoor track and then going swimming !

In Class Today

Period 1: We prepared our lunch. Today we made Pizza with Caesar Salad. Here is a picture of Markeisha and Arqum making their Pizza….

Period 2: We finished off the meal prep. And then ate our lunch a little early so we had plenty of time for Drum Band practice.  Here is a picture of the class enjoying their Pizza and salad….

During lunch period today we had the first practice of the newly reconstituted Maplewood Drum Band. We had a very good turn out and the practice went very well. Here is a video of part of the practice….

Period 3: In gym today we helped to clean up the front hallway after the Movember Shave off. When we had finished that job we got to go to the gym for some free time. Some of us played soccer while others enjoyed a game of basketball.

Period 4: Most of us got a break from our classroom jobs today so we could have our dessert. We had fresh Apple Pie with Ice Cream. After dessert we did the Daily Report and then had a short sitting.

Tomorrow we will:  Be going to see Hunger Games Part 2 Catching Fire at the movie theater.

In Class Today

Period 1: We went to the Art room where we glazed our Ceramic Christmas Tree Ornaments.

Period 2:  We had our Drama Activity. First we played a game of Musical Chairs. Here is a video of the last part of the game…

After three games of Musical Chairs we did the Circle Dance. Ms. Duffin, who is working with us this term did a great job leading the activity. Here is a video of the Circle Dance……

Period 3: In gym we started out with a game of Indoor Soccer. After that we went into the hallway to practice our Bocce Ball skills. Curtis was quite the pro !

Period 4: We did our classroom jobs, filled in the daily report then had a sitting.

Tomorrow we will:  Be making, then having Pizza and Caesar Salad for lunch. For dessert we are going to enjoy one of Mr. Wilkens amazing Apple Pie.
